How To Make A Good Web Design
Which means that someone probably has a web site a lot like yours? As competition for page views grows more intense, web design more technical, and the Internet more popular, good web design becomes more important than ever before. If you have a web site, then you want visitors to view that site. Good web design is the only way to make that happen.
The average Internet cruiser is more jaded these days, harder to impress. Good web design is the only way to get repeat visitors. There are several basic key elements to good web design that every web designer must know how to use.
Content
Internet search engines have grown very clever about searching content on web sites these days. Good web design is centered on your web site's content. What keywords will people search to find your site? Once you know what your keywords are, you have to have plenty of content on your site that features those keywords. There are several free web sites that allow you to check your keyword content. Use them. Content is what search engines look at first, so it is here that you must make your impression.
Links
Search engines, and your visitors, love links. You want links that connect to other pages of your site, internal links, as well as external links that connect to pages outside your domain. The more links you have, the better, so use them liberally throughout your site. Links also improve the navigation of your site, which is incredibly important to good web design.
Graphics
Bright colors, pictures, and fun fonts will make or break your web site. Graphics are going to fly at Internet cruisers every way they look, so you want to make an impression with the graphics on your site. Good web design is about a pleasing flow of colors, pictures, graphics, and text. Don't over clutter your pages, but make them exciting and interesting to look at.
Design professionals may try to project your personality but they often prevent it from shining through by using the same techniques they use on their other web sites. It's much better to be yourself and create something which they might call amateurish then it is to end up with something that looks and reads like everybody else's web site. Understand that the internet web site is the last true art form of the 20th century, so try to be creative. Think outside the box. And then create your own box.
About Fitness Program
There are four aspects related to physical fitness: cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, and muscular endurance and flexibility. Fitness programs are the path to having a healthy body. They are the perfect way to incorporate exercise into the daily routine. Fitness programs, when followed religiously, are a remarkable way to counter several diseases, even in old age. Fitness programs need a lot of commitment and hard work.
There are several stages in incorporating a fitness program into your daily routine. The first thing is to check your present health condition to determine what kind of a program would suit you. This requires a basic health check up of blood pressure, diabetes-check, and a full work over for any suspected diseases, and past injuries. Also, consider your family history. Are you prone to heart attacks, strokes, arthritis, and other ailments? A major aspect in physical fitness is the body's composition, which indicates the makeup of the body in terms of the ratio of lean mass to fat mass. Lean mass is comprised of muscle, bone, vital tissue and organs. Fat is fat.
Fitness programs take all these physical conditions of the person into account. The ideal exercise regime for a person will suit his/her body type. This is also contingent upon one's objective be it weight loss, physical strength, or others. Fitness programs are composed of several kinds of activities such as: aerobics, aquatic exercises, golf, walking, skipping, jogging, swimming, bicycling, running, skiing, or playing sports like tennis and squash.
Fitness program should be chosen to suit your fitness level. They should be enjoyable, with realistic goals, and should fit well with your lifestyle. Some people may not see immediate results. Depending on the program as well as their body type results may vary. However, patience is very important. Choosing more than one type of exercise would also make it interesting. You can opt for an instructor for special kinds of fitness programs or for group fitness programs. People with disabilities need to follow fitness programs consistently.
There are many professional fitness centers that have sophisticated equipment to suit all kinds of people and their fitness needs. These centers have professionals and medical specialists who would be able to offer advice about the best kind of fitness program to take up. They provide customized workout routines, nutrition plans, personal trainers, and expert guidance to make the results last.
Golf Fitness Program
First and foremost, your development of better golf swing mechanics is center stage. Understanding the mechanics and where the clubhead should be is the first step.
This allows you to consciously know and practice the positions of where the golf club and body should be at any moment in the golf swing. Mentally understanding golf swing mechanics allows you to have a “map” to refer to when developing your golf swing.
Secondly, when it comes to golf swing mechanics we look at practice. We all know the body learns a new movement through repetition. The mind and body learn either the correct or incorrect golf swing through practice.
This is the point where the proprioceptive or “feel” abilities of your body for your golf swing begin to form. The movement pattern begins to be ingrained as you continue to practice your golf swing.
This is where the third component of developing “feel” comes into play. The third component of developing “feel” is the body.
Golf swing mechanics are performed by your body, and, as a result, the body is critically involved in developing feel in your golf swing. Developing feel is linked to your nervous system and the ability of the brain/nerves to input/output information efficiently. Improving the process by which your brain and nerves input (learning the golf swing mechanics) and output (execution of the golf swing) has a direct effect on your ability to feel the club.
How do you improve the proprioceptive qualities of the body that directly affects your ability to feel the golf club? Improvement in this area lies within performing exercises that increase the efficiency with which the nervous system operates.
Exercises that improve proprioception and “feel” during the swing are called balance exercises. Balance exercises challenge the nervous system, creating more efficiency in the input/output system of the body. Better balance allows for the body to learn new movements (i.e. golf swing) more quickly and efficiently. Additionally, these exercises increase the ability of the body to “feel” athletic movements like the golf swing.
In summary, we have three components that improve our “feel” for the golf club. Number one is an understanding of golf swing mechanics. You must have a conscious “road map” of the golf swing. This allows you a reference point to develop the correct swing mechanics.
Secondly, practice is required. The body learns through repetition. Practice allows the brain and the body to learn the movement sequence of the golf swing. Practice is also the point where the body begins to develop the proprioceptive qualities required for the golf swing.
Finally, you need to develop the proprioceptive capacities of the body itself through balance exercises. These types of exercises improve the input/output system of the body allowing for improved learning capacities by the body, better “feel” of where the body is in space, and a greater capacity to “feel” the golf swing.
All in all, it is a combination of developing these three entities within your golf swing and body that creates “feel” for the swing. They all work together and cannot be separated.
Renovating Your Bathroom
Planning
Renovating your bathroom can be a daunting and expensive task as it requires specialised trade services such as plumbing, tiling, and electrical work. Time, money and complexity are the biggest factors you'll need to consider. To avoid cramping your bathroom, design a rough layout of your new bathroom by measuring the room's dimensions. A well-planned bathroom allows easy movement for the family members and ensures sufficient room for opening cabinets and storage. To get ideas, you could browse through a number of photographs and planning guides available online.
D.I.Y. versus Professional Renovators
The final analysis should be based on budget, function and style. Professional renovators can manage the entire renovation process for you, including organisation of all facets of the project for you from tile selection to the necessary trades. You could simply use their consultation services and track down the right tradesperson (such as plumbers, tile installers, painters and electricians) to do the job for you. If you are working within a limited budget and would like to make the changes yourself, read on to learn a few things about renovating your bathroom yourself.
Important Considerations
Budget
Plumbing - Unless the layout of your bathroom isn't wholly functional, try to keep the new fixtures in the same general location to minimize costs.
Focus - Try to single out a feature where your money is put to its best use. For example, you could replace an old vanity unit with a contemporary glass and wood vanity with wall-mounted faucets. To balance the cost of this expensive piece from the budget, you could select less expensive tub fixtures, floor and wall tiles.
Functionality
Whether the bathroom is shared by a couple or the whole family, a few functional tactics can help keep the bathroom from becoming a war room.
It can be quite helpful to employ the services of a professional designer to maximise use of space and fine-tune the layout. If you do not wish to go to this expense, remember the basic points of bathroom design — try to avoid the placement of the WC opposite the entry door, allow plenty of room for the shower-screen and entry doors to open freely, and allow plenty of space for storage.
Waterproofing - A Primer
Waterproofing prior to renovation of a bathroom is of vital importance. However, problems can arise in older homes, where some areas were not successfully waterproofed. You could either choose to remove tiles and waterproof and re-tile, or to waterproof with tiles in situ. Many different methods of overcoming other leakages are available, all with different applications and all with guarantees. Cost efficiency and the extent of the problem should be the major factors in your final decision.
Storage
Vanity drawers allow more accessible storage than doors where items are hard to reach on deep shelves. You could also consider hanging a large, shallow pantry-style cabinet on an unused wall, and relocate your towel bar as a door handle if your wall space is limited.
Lighting
Lighting contrasts often make the space look bigger. Indirect glowing lights, also called coves, emit light through a hidden source to provide a soft, warm glow to the bathroom.
Mirror & Window
Warm fluorescent vertical wall sconces provide you with even lighting on your face—essential for applying cosmetics or shaving. In the daytime, keep dressings and blinds open to provide plenty of natural light.
Style & Decorating Trends
Three of the most popular styles - country, contemporary, and traditional - can be expressed through a bathroom's colours, fixtures, and fine details. However, you must be sure that you are comfortable with the chosen decoration style and that it corresponds with your overall perception of the house. The challenge of modern bathrooms is to create a simple and pared down space without making it look cold and sterile. You could incorporate some of these elements to add warmth to your new bathroom:
Wood & Natural Materials
Wood, with its unique qualities of warmth and colour, adds richness and quality to any bathroom.
Contrast & Texture
Bathrooms are typically filled with hard, shiny fixtures and surfaces. By introducing texture and contrasting materials, you can add visual interest and warmth to your new bathroom.
Common Pitfalls
You can avoid the following common bathroom renovation problems and pitfalls by simply planning ahead and consulting professional bathroom designers/tradespeople where appropriate. Organising tradespeople in incorrect order. This results in skipped stages, revisits, extra work and costs. Planning redesigns without taking into consideration crucial basics, such as cavity space, concrete walls/floors/ceilings, existing plumbing and circuitry, etc. Buying fittings or fixtures without consulting the relevant trade professionals, thereby resulting in unsuitable choices.

Measure and draw your bathroom to scale
The first thing you should do is measure and draw out your existing bathroom on a sheet of squared paper. Try to be as accurate as you can because every inch might count depending on what you want to get in your new bathroom and how much space you have to play with.
Measure the distance between opposite walls on both sides of the room in case the room is wider at one end than the other. Measure floor to ceiling and the position and size of windows including the depth of the window. Also measure the size, position and shape of any irregularities in the room such as pipework.
Draw a floor plan of your bathroom from above and a plan of each wall. When you've finished you will have 5 drawings and a set of measurements. Make sure that you take these and a tape measure with you wherever you go because you will need to use them often.
Forget about bathroom showrooms and magazines for now
Magazines and showrooms are trying to sell you something and they will naturally go out of their way to show things in the most appealing way, which may not always be the most practical or realistic way for you. You will be using these resources of course but leave them until you have a better idea of what it is you want in your new bathroom design.
Make use of a digital camera
Take a digital camera with you whenever you're in bathroom design mode and use it to make a visual record everything you come across. Note down what each image is about and file it away carefully on your computer for later. This is an excellent design technique and most people don't do it.
Visit your friends
Most people are happy to talk about their bathroom especially to a friend and especially if they have recently remodeled their bathroom. Make a point of visiting all of your friends and start to build a folder full of ideas based on what they have done in their bathrooms.
Ask as many questions that you can think of to find out what their ideas were, how their ideas changed, what they like about their bathroom and just as important, what do they dislike about the room. Make good notes that you will understand when you read them later.
Most people will either have remodeled their bathroom in the last few years or know of someone who has. If your friend knows of someone with a new bathroom ask them if they can arrange for you to go and see it. The more you see the better.
Look over some houses for sale.
Real estate agents in your area will arrange for you to go and view properties for sale and if you tell them that you are looking for a great bathroom they will try and find them for you.
If you don't feel comfortable doing this because you have no intention of buying a new property then I suggest that you try and get over it. It's a great way to get ideas for your own bathroom and who knows what might happen when you start looking. You wouldn't be the first to do this kind of research and end up buying a new property so don't feel bad about doing it.
Buy some magazines
By now you should be feeling confident about what it is you are looking for. Now is the time to find a few good magazines on remodeling and home improvement to crystallise your ideas.
Visit showrooms
Now that you know what it is that you are looking for it's time to visit the showrooms in your area to see what is available and match your ideas to items that you can buy. Make notes and take lots of pictures with your digital camera of everything interesting that you find.
Pick up brochures on home improvement and bathroom remodeling
Always pick up as many brochures as you can find when touring the showrooms. Circle the items that you are interested in and make sure you write down prices and thoughts that you have at the time.
Research the Internet
Last but not least, make full use of the Internet to find product specifications, contractors and ideas on web sites all over.

To mount you rack, you want to consider what you mount it to. You want to look for the sturdiest studs in the wall to screw into the area to mount. If not that, you can choose drywall. You drill a hole in the wall, using an anchor to stick an anchor lock in and then put in your screw, which spreads out the anchor lock, securing it to the wall. You can also use a T-Bolt. It depends on how large the rack is. To use a T-Bolt, you drill a hole depending on the size of the T-Bolt. Once you drill the hole, you push the T-Bolt in, which ears will pop out. You cannot pull the T-Bolt back out at this point.

How to install a toilet in Bathroom Accessories
You can apply to wax bowl rings to apply a skilled toilet bowl. You want to place it where you want it, and move it to the tank. The tank will lead you to the toilet bowl, and you can move to attach the item and then level it to your point of return.
The starting point will take you to a new level, especially if you do not want to project a new flange. Flange is something you want to deal with, since it is the process of cleaning the toilet before you install the units. If you have previously clean the unit, why are you asking me why I need to ask you what is up.
How to mount your toilet and seat:
If you have a prior toilet seat used on the flange, you want to consider rings. You can tell if this was the case due to there being some remains of an old wax bowl ring. In incident, this being the case you should take something and scrape it off. Afterwards I would suggest taking the toilet seat parts out for inspection. There are certain parts that you should place on the toilet or the foam packaging so it does not get dirty. This also helps to prevent chipping of the enamel. Generally, toilets come in two boxes one box containing the tank for the toilet then the bowl in the other box.
Next, I would take the parts that you have, put them together making sure that all of them fit as intended. If you were just to try to place, everything got so far then came to the realization. The wrong time would increase the work you would have to do installing this new toilet. The wax bowl ring is an old-fashioned item that is still used to this very day. Even though there are some minor improvements that make it better then the older models. If you want, less trouble in setting this toilet up you should use a plastic flange. Those kinds of wax bowl rings seem to have less trouble in the bathroom. The only thing that the wax bowl does is seal the porcelain toilet to the flange. But if the toilet ever moves the seal would becomes broken this could be trouble cause gases for the sewer or water can leak out. Take in that this water would not be clear enough to drink. (Can someone say tap water?) Sometimes the leak cannot be detected because of the water dripping down. This can caused rotted floor structure and damage to ceilings in room below.
Toilets seats are easy to install. If you choose a quality toilet, it will augment your bathroom if you put on a toilet seat that attracts interest. Perhaps you like fish. If you like aquarium, you can purchase for around $7.99 a nice fish seat for your toilet. Go to Value City, or related stores to get the bargains.
Once you add your toilet and seat, you might want to purchase a rug to match. Shower curtains, window curtains, and other bathroom accessories can offset your environment. You can purchase toothbrush holders, cup, and other items at local stores or online.

How to choose toilet holders?

How to install bath fixtures?
The fixtures would look good mounted to marble walls, tiled walls, drywall, granite walls, etc. How you install the holders is simple. You merely drill a hole to the desired location. Install your anchor lock, because if you just screw it in it will chip away. The anchor lock spreads out, swells and secures it self.
Bathroom Mirrors
Exploring the endless options available in bathroom mirrors, establishing the look one is striving to achieve whether traditional or contemporary, bathroom mirrors have transitioned through the modern ages. Victorian style bathrooms were often built with heavy layers of dark wood types from boxed in baths, wood framed mirror to wainscoting. Today's traditional styles of bathroom furnishings are sporting similar design concepts, but with a much softer look. Bathroom mirrors are lightly capped with various wood textures and tones and wood bath panels are added to step up the design elements as an extension of tradition. Arched mirrors alone or with the addition of wall sconces for extra lighting can also create a Victorian feel to your bathroom setting.
Selecting the right bathroom mirror
Selecting the appropriate wall mirror is also determined not only by the size of your bathroom, but also on the size of the bathroom vanity, bathroom mirrors should never extend beyond the vanity as it will create an unbalanced look. The ideal wall mirror for bathrooms with double basins, are rectangular wall-to-wall mirrors to disseminate adequate lighting exposing bathroom accessories as well as the other bathroom furniture, increasing the presence of the bathroom.
Solid white bathroom suites are a way of adequately diffusing light for an airy feeling, when the light is reflected off of white bathroom furnishing the illusion of space is instantly created. Contemporary bathroom mirrors
Wanting to give your bathroom a contemporary personality, frameless bathroom mirrors with inset lighting deliver all the potential for an ultra modern ambiance. Achieving a modern look with circular or square mirrors is the perfect solution for intricate modern designs. Hanging his/ her matching wall mirrors with an overhanging light feature increases the amount of light in the bathroom again not to exceed the length of either the floor mounted or wall mounted basin furniture, helps to create a sophisticated modern expression especially for more complex bathroom remodeling projects.
For even more dramatic results, discovering different uses for wall mirrors can present a unique look, mirrors with built in lighting are also being installed inside shower enclosures and in and around the bathing area creating a shaving area for the males in your home while furthering the functionality of bathroom mirror in supporting additional lighting needs. How to Choose Bathroom Accessories and Mirror Defoggers
How it works
The electronic defoggers give you the advantage of freeing up time, since you do not have to blow dry, wait, or wipe your mirror after bathing. Now, you can close the door while taking a bath. Now you can bath with your spouse while he or she showers at the same time, since when you step out the mirror will be free of fog.
The latest invention takes one beyond expediency. Now, you can put on your face after showing, shave, insert contact lenses, style your hair, etc, without waiting until the mirror is free of fog.
The latest inventions save you time. How the defogger works is simple. Once you install the unit, you merely flick a switch and the defogger will do the rest. The device connects to the light switch, which when you turn on the bathroom light the defogger will instantly activate.
Technology has designed a timesaving, cost-effective solution. The defoggers will match your budget, since you can activate the defoggers without worrying about your electric bill increasing. The device uses less electricity than any other device, such as light bulbs, or fixtures installed in your bathroom.
Defoggers offer you flexibility. Technology has designed the devices to fit behind your bathroom mirror, yet the device will cover the surrounding areas, thus defogging your mirrors.
How to install:
Defoggers are easy to install. The defogger has an attached heater, which is installed in an electronic box. The unit is then hard-wired to the bath defogger. Next, you mount the defogger on the wall, by sticking the unit and replace your mirror.
How much wattage does the defogger use.
As I said, the defoggers are cost-effective. Defoggers run from 110-watt. You have the option of choosing the 120-watt units also, as well as the 240-voltage.
How do I choose tools for installation?
You will have instructions available when you purchase your unit. The instruction manual will inform you what tools you need to install. In some instances, you may need to drill holes in your wall to affix your mirror. You may need a drill, drill bits, etc. It depends if you need to accommodate your fixtures and/or wall outlets. You want to avoid cutting or drilling holes in to the mirror itself.
How do I take care of my defogger?
Defoggers today are free of maintenance. Defoggers are designed to last up to 10 years or longer.
How are the defoggers tested?
Leading, international labs, such as CE and ETL, test defoggers. The units are certified by CSA.
How much do the defoggers cost?
It depends where you purchase the bath defoggers. Online you can find bath defoggers, which you can purchase at $89, or $179. It depends on what you want. We recommend you contrast and compare pricing to find the bargains. Keep in mind however; quality is important. If you find generics, you may find better deals, yet how long will the unit last? If you have to purchase a new unit every month, couple of years, etc, thus you are not receiving quality.
How do I consider shipping?
You have the choice of choosing express airmail, expedited, or standard mail. From my experience standard is affordable and arrives sooner than airmail or express.
Now that you've considered bath defoggers, you may want to consider the latest décor wall mirrors.
Fitness for Women- Stay Fit and Healthy
1. Get a program that will best suit you. Every fitness woman is different. You may have surgical history where a program may not be suited for you. Always consult a qualified trainer to make sure that the fitness program will not hurt you. If the fitness program is not for you, it will only be a cause of frustration and injuries.
2. Set realistic targets. Wouldn't you be frustrated if you set your mind into reshaping your body in month? Make sure that the body you prefer in a period of time is achievable and realistic. The program should also be practical and will not give you false hopes. It is important to be aware of the blocks you encounter in your daily living. This will help you know what program is satisfactory. And once a program has been reached, then you can set goals and timelines that are realistic.
3. Exercises should work on the parts of your body where muscles are. The reason mainly is, when you develop muscles, you burn more calories and then you lessen the fats in your body. Multi-joint exercises and weight lifting are recommended. Learn what exercises work on certain parts of your body. Multi-joint exercises are also said to be effective but time saving.
4. Be systematic on working on your muscles. Your muscles should be working harder over time. Repeating the same sets of exercises and same weight without getting your muscles to work harder will not give satisfactory results. You can record your daily results and make the progression based on your previous data. A daily log will also motivate you since you are able to track how far you have gone. It builds confidence since there is a written proof something that was successfully accomplished.
5. Perform a set of exercises in 10 repetitions. Every number that was accomplished is called a repetition. Try to make every repetition with less momentum as much as possible. The lesser the momentum, the harder your muscles work. And the harder they work, the bigger they become. To check if there is much momentum when lifting, see if the arm is floating. If the arm does float, then there is much momentum.
6. Be flexible and perform a variety of exercises. Every exercise program should have a variety. You can change your exercises, goals and sets every month to keep you motivated and on the go. Doing this will help you prevent being bored and losing energy physically and mentally.
7. Be Motivated! The best way to keep the energy levels of trainees is to allow a healthy competition and allow them to have a sense of control. Having control is having the sense ownership where everybody gets a part in implementing a program. To do this you also need to be consistent in demonstrating your skills.

The backbone of photography is the camera, the instrument or device that works on the principle of optics. The camera and photographic techniques have undergone phenomenal changes since the time the first camera was made. The earlier model did not contain the film; instead, it had a small light-shield box with lens and translucent screen on either side. The image that traveled through the lens was stored on the screen. Known as 'camera obscura,' it was no more than a sketching device for artists.
Then the scientists discovered the quality of silver nitrate that changes its color when exposed to light. This was the beginning of photogram, a method of making permanent images. They would place objects on the paper dipped in silver nitrate and expose it to the sunlight. After sometime the area covered under the object stayed white while the rest of the space turned black. However, the image formed was temporary, so the method did not last long.
Over the centuries, the principles, the method and the material used in photography went through many changes. After experimenting with various methods like Daguerre and calotype process, finally collodion, or the wet plate technique was universally accepted.
Modern photography has given a totally new meaning to the entire perception of life and privacy. Photography has made it possible to capture and preserve special moments, in private and in public life. History became more authentic with pictures, and photographs served as evidence in many cases. People made their family tree in their albums. Suddenly life was so much more fun and meaningful.
With the tremendous technological advances in the art of photography, it is no more just fun and frolic but has acquired the dimensions of a full-fledged profession. Photography has many branches and types, such as:
- Aerial photography is the art of taking photographs from the air.
- Art photography is devoted to beautiful pictures for the sake of beauty only.
- Studio or advertising photography is dedicated to promotion of products and institutions.
- Photojournalism takes pictures of events to support the news story and to create awareness among the people.
- Outdoor and travel photography is focused on taking pictures of landscapes and natural places.
- Sports photography records images of the sporting events and games that take place in the world.
- Some types of photography like the macro and scientific and macro or close up photography are restricted to specific fields and are not widely known.
The charm of photography lies as much in the end product as in the process of taking pictures. Looking at an album is like taking a trip down memory lane; it makes us feel highly nostalgic and emotional.
Digital Photography - Fast Food Memories
Some people ask the question of whether the digital photography revolution is necessarily a good thing. It is easier, faster and cheaper than ever before to capture memorable moments for later viewing. Because of this, digital photos often feel more “real” than traditional film-based images, as dozens or hundreds of images can be snapped continuously at no cost without interrupting the flow of a moment in order to have participants re-create it “for a picture”.
Because of this essential freedom to review, arrange, and remove unwanted images, we are far more generous with our shutters than was generally the case with more expensive film-based methods of image capture. Because of inexpensive storage however, many people never bother to remove most unnecessary images, resulting in bloated virtual albums with duplicates, accidental pictures of thumbs, uninspiring shots of brick walls, pavement, and more.
However, because of this essentially greater freedom to snap, some make the argument that many of our images have less value. This is tricky territory, however - who's to say that a plastic bag lying on the sidewalk isn't lovely, or that an overexposed picture of Fluffy the dog isn't artistic or as valuable as a more traditional family photo? In the end, there's not much point arguing about taste.
One thing is certain, though - as more and more cameras find their way into more hands, the numbers of images available on line are sure to continue to multiply - and whether good, bad, or ugly, each of these images has meaning for someone. And when you get down to it, individual freedom is one thing we can all likely agree on.
Digital Photography and the Printed World
Digital photography today is a rapidly growing consumer pastime with many advantages versus traditional film-based cameras, including the ability to immediately review, erase, annotate or categorize images, speed and ease of operation, and quality at the high end of the digital photography scale. Although some film cameras can operate without batteries, minus the flash, most consumers are unconcerned with use in wet or poor weather environments and are drawn to digital cameras by all of the advantages that they offer.
Because of this, the entire photography industry is changing to embrace different consumer preferences, including a reduced desire for printed photos. The market for printed photos from film in the United States has been on the increase in recent years. Initially, there were problems with quick-service photography shops “cropping” digital images in order to force them to print properly on the same paper used by film cameras - as more and more people move to digital however, services and products emerge to make it easier to transfer your memories from electronic to tangible.
Some people feel that a picture just isn't a picture if you can't put it into a frame (although wireless, internet-enabled miniature LCD ‘picture frames' ARE available) or store it in a photo album. But many of today's young people are much more comfortable with technology than their parents and grandparents. It is not uncommon for a college student to feel more secure with electronic images than paper ones.
No one is certain whether digital photography will eventually reduce our demand for photo prints, but it is guaranteed that the way of the future in photography is digital. Additionally, there are far more snapshots being taken than ever before, due to the ease with which they can be reviewed and removed from digital cameras. So whether you're partial to electronic or shoe box image storage, be ready for photos to get easier, better and cheaper in coming years - and of course, keep smiling.
Pet Photography
Goal
As with anything, it's best to proceed with a goal in mind so you know where to start. What are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to capture your pet's playful side? Are you trying to setup a funny photo using a prop such as a birthday hat? Is this an interactive portrait between your pet and your child? Sit down and put on paper this goal, because it will help you in preparing properly. Nothing is worse than spending an hour going to your favorite scene with equipment in hand and realizing your forgot a favorite toy - do your self a favor, do not skip this step.
Setting
Now that you have decided on your goal, it's now time to decide the proper setting. Indoors vs. outdoors. Near the fireplace with an open fire in the background, or in a studio. At the beach or in the woods. As you think about the proper setting, think about how your pet will respond to that setting. If you decide the public park is the perfect place, you must think about your pet's resistance to distractions. Is he/she able to resist running after another animal or person? The more you know your pet and look through his/her eyes, the better off you will be.
Preparation
Now you are at the critical preparation stage. You've set your goal, you've decided on the appropriate setting - let's try to anticipate all that can (and will) go wrong. I use the word 'wrong' loosely - try not be too rigid and to have fun - we will talk more about that in a minute. Write out on paper every possible thing you can think of. Here are some suggestions:
- Exercise your pet - just enough so they are still alert, but not hyper
- Lighting - outdoor is best, but flash will work too - should be natural lighting
- Grooming - only if it doesn't adversely affect your pet's mood - then do it days beforehand
- Props/Toys - favorite of the pet
- Food - favorite of the pet
- Be prepared for sudden movement - shutter speed about 1/125th and use iso 400 or 800 film (if indoors)
- Watch the scene clutter
- Have pet at least 6 feet away from background to reduce shadows
- Bring an assistant to help manage your pet
- Zoom Lens
- Camera, Film, Tripod, Equipment, etc.
The first time you make out your list, the process will be a little tedious, but the beauty is that once the list is made, all you need to do is modify it slightly for the next sessions.
On Location
Whew, you've made to shooting location - congratulations. Hopefully, you've brought everything you are going to need, right? Right! Now, it's time for setup. Be organized; get everything laid out in a logical fashion. The last thing you want to be doing is fiddling around with equipment when you need to be shooting pictures - an animal has a zero attention span and you have got to be ready to snap that picture when the moment is there.
How is you animal's demeanor? Is he/she super wound up? If yes, then perhaps some light exercise would be in order - nothing too heavy, but just enough to help him/her calm down. How are you? Are you stressed? Relax, and go with the flow - animals are super sensitive to your mood. Give your pet some last minute grooming - just touch-ups. If you are outdoors, how is the wind? Is it too strong? Is the sun too bright? Remember, overcast is much better for exposure. Make sure that your pet is far enough away from your background so as to not cast any shadows.
The Photographer's Mindset
Your mindset should be one of peace and serenity. I can't overstate that enough. Also, you need to climb into the mind of your pet as best you can. What are they thinking and feeling? Align your expectations properly. If you have never done this before, don't expect perfection the first time out - that will just raise your anxiety level and will stress out your pet.
Shooting
One of the most important things to remember is to get down on your pet's level, physically, as much as possible. A shot from above doesn't portray intimacy. In addition, when you are at your pet's level, it's easier for you to empathize with it. If you've never crawled around on the ground before, you might feel a bit foolish, but trust me, it makes all the difference in the world. Make sure that you and your handler work with each other - you have got to be in charge, but also try to be flexible - you have a lot of variables that you are managing.
How To Choose a Wedding Photographer
As you might imagine, wedding photography is one of the most challenging types of professional photography. The wedding photographer has to make everyone look beautiful, shooting in a multitude of locations in all kinds of weather conditions--and accomplish all this in minimum amount of time. At the same time, your wedding photographer should have the personality to complement you on your most joyous day. Take your time and follow some of the simple suggestions discussed below, and you will most certainly be satisfied with the outcome.
WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY PREFERENCES
To avoid making this slight neglect that usually leads disastrous results, couples have to decide first what kind of wedding photography they would want to have. Most wedding photographers today categorize the types of wedding photography into two: the traditional or classic style and the wedding photojournalistic style.
The most common style used by wedding photographers today, the traditional or classic wedding photography is considered as a “timeless” and the “safest” style because you normally see in countless wedding albums. Characterized by classic poses of subjects aware of the camera, this style involves so much control from the photographer because he is in-charge in arranging individual and group shots before, during, and even after the wedding.
Having excellent portraiture skills, expect the photographer to focus more on the quality of the photograph by making the subject look great from the littlest details. Expect typical wedding photos like pre-ceremony pictures, formal shots of the bride and groom posing with brides maids and ushers, cake cutting, garter and bouquet toss, and the like when you choose a classic wedding photography. This style is ideal if the couple would want to keep portraits of family members for their wedding album.
If the couple is adventurous and unconventional, then you might want to consider the wedding photo-journalistic style of photography on your big day. An increasingly popular style today, wedding photojournalism offers fresh and new style of taking photos in the occasion. Characterized by candid shots of the subjects unaware of the moving camera, the photojournalism style lets the attendees act freely to capture their pure and true emotion.
Sourcing style from his experience in journalism, the “photojournalist” pays more attention to minute details and candid shots rather than arranged ones. He's more into eyeing interesting moments and capturing those in his lens to produce a narrative collection of images that tell a story. Although some traditional poses will be present, expect photos that show actual emotions of the bride and groom and of other participants throughout the duration of the wedding when you choose the photojournalism style.
In order to avoid ruining the documentation of your wedding, here are some tips in making your wedding a picture perfect one:
1. Weddings are one of the most exciting chapters of one's life. Make sure that you choose a wedding photographer that can meet all your standards. Meet with the photographer before hand the so you could discuss the details you want.
2. Inform the important participants about the schedule of photo sessions and make sure everyone attends the rehearsal to cut down the stress.
3. Have a reception area so guests can be informed about the itinerary. This will set the occasion in order.
How To Make The Best Digital Wedding Photographs
The first thing to do is to give the most opportunities for the photographer when scheduling activities during the wedding day. When planning the time of the wedding ceremony and of the reception, couples should incorporate the time that the photographer requires to capture all of the couple's special moments. There should be a gap between the end of the ceremony and beginning of the reception, to allow for more photographs for the bride, groom and wedding entourage, especially if they are in two different locations. The photographers and subjects will have a more relaxed shoot and will enjoy all the parts of the wedding if the events are well spaced out.
Next, think of important factors when selecting a wedding photographer. The photographer should be able to show more than one complete set of wedding photos. Couples should not accept someone who shows only selected prints of their best photographs from different weddings. Ideally, all photographs from 3 to 4 complete wedding sets that are at least satisfactory should be a criterion of a professional wedding photographer.
It is also good to have a photographer that gives a package with unlimited coverage for the whole day. Again, this way, photography will not be rushed.
Next, try to be aware of photography companies or individuals that contract out jobs to a pool of wedding photographers or even freelancers. Salespersons often pose as actual photographers and try to woo customers. Make sure companies deal openly, and ask them to show 3 to 4 complete weddings from each of the photographers they offer you, so you can choose. Make sure the one chosen is the one that will cover your wedding. Otherwise, it is better to find a photographer that personally shoots weddings. A two-person team is an even better package because two points of view of the wedding can be taken.
Some photographers only offer the traditional wedding photography style, or strictly a photo-journalistic style. It is best to find a versatile photographer that can do both.
Lastly, couples should take note of some important questions to ask a prospective wedding photographer:
- Are colored and black and whites included, or would he charge extra for B/W? Dramatic effects can be made with black and white photographs, so ask if this is a premium.
- Are hand and digital coloring or digital color separation included in the package or would he charge extra for these? Better pictures are developed when the photograph colors are separated first, improved, and then printed.
- What kinds of cameras does he use? Does he use medium format equipment and have a back up? Does have a "leaf" shutter or "focal plane"?
- What lenses does he use? Does he use only one, or will he change lenses? Make him show you photo effects that he is able to achieve with different lenses and choose the ones which you like to appear with your photographs.
- Is he willing to customize a package that is within your budget?
You will probably want the best and the maximum number of digital wedding photography shots so you need to make the most of the capacity of the digital camera.
Tips On Disposable Digital Cameras
Some people think digital cameras are too hard to use; the disposable digital cameras offer a solution. Disposable digital cameras still have all of the great features that attract people to digital cameras such viewing your pictures before printing and photo manipulation. With a disposable digital camera, you get a flash, a timer, and a viewing monitor (depending on the model you buy). This means that you can see whether you want to take the picture over or not, as you also have the ability to delete an unwanted photo, and retake it if you have the opportunity. Additionally, a free picture CD is usually included with your prints in a disposable digital camera package.
Does a disposable digital camera offer the same features as a regular digital camera? It does offer the most frequently used features, but you will not get zoom or night shots, or most of the other bells and whistles that come with a $400.00 camera. But disposable digital cameras do not cost anywhere near $400, and they do allow you to leave your valuable cameras safe at home and still have the technology that you may crave in a camera for between $10.00 and $20.00, and sometimes even cheaper.
However, you cannot connect your disposable digital camera to your PC or Mac. The photos must be developed at a retailer that provides the proper equipment for your particular brand of disposable digital camera. This may actually be a plus for the technologically challenged, though, since you don't have to hook up the wire, crop, fix the color -- no need to waste hours in front of a computer, as it's all done for you. Your time is valuable
The Art of Organic Photography
Looking at soft, warm pictures, full of emotions, always melts one's heart and it is a feeling which can forever be preserved and treasured whether offline or online in galleries such as flickr or photobucket. In and around San Francisco Bay Area, in places like Palo Alto, Berkeley and Oakland are homes to many families from very diverse ethnicities and cultures, who enjoy having their portraits taken - both adults and children alike.
Talking about renowned photographers, we must make a mention of Anat Reisman Kedem (also known as Anat Kedem), who is one such lady for whom photography is a passion and a way of life. She lives in Foster City, near San Mateo, San Carlos, Belmont and Burlingame in the San Francisco Bay Area in California, USA - and specializes in taking pictures of babies, toddlers, children (kids), pregnancy, maternity and families. She has been recognized many times for her skills - and has a track record of shooting quality pictures, unique photos in natural lighting and surroundings in places such as Menlo Park and Sunnyvale, home to Silicon Valley companies, such as Intel, Cisco, SanDisk and Adobe - as well as the Great America park and the Round Table Pizza chain of restaurants. Hillsborough, Atherton, Los Altos are beautiful small towns and home to generations of families living together. Natural settings as such can really make photos stand out - whether everyday photos or holiday season photos for Christmas, Hanukkah and other holidays where family pictures are a joy to share.
Anat Reisman Kedem summarizes it best when she says: "I believe in taking pictures in a soft, natural ambiance and lighting, creating an atmosphere which adds depth and dimension to my photos. To that end, I generally try to photograph either in the late hours of the afternoon or in the early morning hours when the sunlight romances the lens. While photographing, I will seek the alternative angle, that special look, an honest expression, or a captivating smile. Pre-orchestrated or directed poses are practically out of the question. I simply don't believe in doing things this way."
Located at the tip of the Bay Area is Los Gatos, which borders with San Jose, San Carlos and Santa Clara. This town has many small and large families, with a setting that serves as a real time, amazing backdrop and opportunity for taking photographs which showcase the town and its lovely residents. The suburban town of San Mateo is part of the Bay Area and has many country style houses which form the perfect setting for that cozy photograph. Known for the Coyote Point Park, its golf courses and beach - as well as its proximity to the San Francisco Airport (SFO), the ideal Mediterranean climate here paves the way for a calm and comfortable life. Sausalito and Tiburon in Marin Country, as well as Redwood Shores, Foster City, Alameda and Santa Cruz also provide waterfront scenic backdrops like nowhere else - a perfect setting for perfect photos.
A person can not only enjoy the visuals but also learn more about a person through photographs. And in this way Anat has gone to prove that it is not necessary to have studio lighting, layers of makeup, or a designer dress for a person to look great and resonate warmth - be yourself and let your personality and natural aura shine through the photos, taken in a natural setting with no "artificial preservatives" of any kind. In a sense, it's organic photography. It's a talent only a few photographers possess.
Photo Accessories
Tripod
A tripod is important for one main reason, keeping your images sharp. You'll want to select a small aperture to maximise depth-of-field, so you should be using a shutter speed of less than 1/60 second. It's impossible to get a sharp image holding your camera in your hand at these slow speeds.
When choosing a tripod pick one made out of carbon fibres, these are light to carry but are sturdy in the ground. Choose a tripod that the legs will spread out far, this will help to optimise the strength of your support.
Filters
A small selection of filters is well worth packing when heading off for a trip. They don't take up too much space and will definitely add a bit of spice to your images. A polarizing filter should be top of the list, while a few Neutral Density filters will certainly help with tough exposures. A 0.3, 0.6 and 0.9 will help with exposure without affecting colour.
Bring a few warm-up filters to help when the light is cool. The 81-series are the best choice, which will give your images an extra bit of life. There's a large amount of filters on the market today; these are the most important filters for landscape photography.
Correct Film
Fuji Velvia is an obvious choice for me when it comes to shooting landscapes. This is a slide film that is high in saturation and is perfect for capturing the colour of all seasons. It comes in two speeds of ISO 50 and ISO 100. It's always handy to have a few rolls of Black and White film in the bag. You never know when you see a scene and know that it's perfect for B/W. Whichever film you choose, bring plenty of rolls; don't be caught in the middle of nowhere without film. If you are shooting with a Digital SLR bring plenty of memory.
Cable Release
If your camera has a connection for a cable release you should buy one. It is a perfect accessory to minimise the risk of camera shake - especially if you are taking long exposures. It doesn't take up too much room and is extremely light.
Light Meter
All modern day cameras have light meters built into them, but if you are serious about landscape photography it's advisable to have a hand-held light meter. These are small and of light-weight, and when used correctly are extremely accurate.
These are the most important bits and pieces for your camera bag; other important accessories include spare batteries, a grey card and a few spare lenses.
How Inkjet Printer Works
Unlike dot matrix and character printers that strike ribbons to create an image, inkjet printers do not physically touch the paper. All inkjet printers function using the same basic principles. Tiny ink droplets are "jetted" (or pushed) out multiple holes onto paper in a controlled and systematic fashion. This is where the term "inkjet" comes from.
The size of ink droplets, speed and reliability of this type of printer has been continuously improving since its inception in 1976. In 1993, Epson was the first manufacturer to produce an inkjet printer using micro-piezo technology. The Epson Stylus 800 was the first printer to use the multi-layer actuator print-head (the print-head is the part of the printer that holds numerous tiny nozzles that actually squirts the ink onto paper).
This specific print-head utilized an electro-mechanical element that acted like a tiny control room. When pulses of electricity passed through, it that gave specific signals to fire individual or multiple nozzles loaded with ink.
Micro-piezo technology utilized a tiny crystal in each individual nozzle that when electrically energized, would vibrate or bend causing a controlled amount of ink to be forced out onto paper. When the electrical current is off, the crystal bends back to its original shape, creating a vacuum, thus pulling ink into the nozzle from the reservoir for the next commanded fire.
The Epson print-head was fixed to the carriage so it never needed replacing (the printer carriage is what moves laterally across the paper). This also kept the cost of ink cartridges low since they were little more than reservoirs of ink. This breakthrough printer produced a whopping 360 dpi (dots per inch) that was deemed, almost "letter quality" at the time. With a printing speed of 150 - 180 characters per second, the new Epson became the user favorite printer for home and office.
At the same time, HP was using a similar technology. A thermal jetting system was utilized in their print-head. The print-head still acted like the control room but each individual nozzle was instead independently super heated by electricity, which caused the ink to explode onto the paper. HP claims the temperature of a fired inkjet nozzle approaches that of the surface of the sun.
HP elected to put the print-head on the inkjet cartridge itself instead of mounting it permanently to the carriage. Since each inkjet cartridge would have its own print-head, replacement cartridges would be more expensive for these printers. HP inkjet cartridges also could not print as fast as Epson because each nozzle needed to cool after firing. This heating technology also limited the types of inks that could be used. In the 1990's, Canon, Epson and HP engineered printheads that applied even smaller droplets of ink, drastically improving dpi and resolution.
While Canon and HP could produce a 6 - 10 picoliter droplet size from one nozzle, Epson was about half the size (between 3 - 6 picoliters). Currently, there are printers available which will produce an amazing 1 picoliter droplet! To get an idea of how small this is; a human hair is about 12 picoliters in diameter. Most human eyes can't see one jetted droplet of ink on paper. Inkjet printers have come a long way since their first inception.
Printers today are twice as fast as their predecessors were, and are cheaper than ever. Many printers can easily produce color photo quality images in at an incredible 6000 dpi. As time goes on and as demand for printing remains high, the quality, speed and features of inkjet printers will only continue to improve.
Inkjet and Laser Printers
The laser printer is capable of printing much faster and usually produces better quality image, it is far more expensive as compared to the Inkjet version. Laser printers are usually used for black printing but there are color laser printers available now.
Having pointed that out, it is also useful to note that the general rule of the thumb for printers is ‘the lesser the cost of the printer, the more expensive the running cost”. This could however depend on the volume of printing the printer is being used for. If the printing volume were minimal, it would be more cost effective to use an inkjet printer. It is very easy to get carried away by the initial price of an inkjet printer but people buying them are often not aware that the running cost of the machine would play a huge part and should be factored into the decision making.
This would be better understood with an example. Let us consider a Canon i320 colour bubble jet printer. It usually does not cost more than $50 obviously subject to the discounts applicable at your store. The cost of a cartridge is usually in the $18 range and on an average it prints 170 pages. Even if you print as few as 7 pages a day that works out to 2100 pages over the year. This in turn works out to an annual expense of approximately $245. The amount one spends on cartridges is approximately 4 times the price of the printer in the first year itself. This is the reason the subsequent expenditure needs to be taken into consideration while buying a printer.
Inkjet printers come with some added problems that need to be looked at and taken into consideration.
1. To begin with they are not as fast as the Laser printers. This is one reason why Inkjet printers are not recommended when printing needs to be done in large volumes.
2. They are known to throw up cartridge error messages even though the cartridges might be working just fine. This is not to say that Inkjet printers are always problematic but these are just a few errors that do crop up once in a while.
3. The print can also start going haywire sometimes and it may start printing in endless loops.
4. It is often difficult to minimize and regulate the amount of ink being used in the Inkjet printers.
5. There is a difference in quality of an Inkjet print and a laser print. Often the laser print is of better quality.
It is for these reasons that the laser printers sales have taken of in a very big way in spite of being a more expensive buy. However, in comparison to the laser printers, there are a few positives about the inkjet printers, which are more suitable to the requirements of a small or home business where they do not need to print as many in terms of volumes.
Color laser printers have been around for some time but they were frightfully expensive a few years ago. A recent study found that last year nearly 1.85 million color laser printers were sold, a substantial growth from the previous year. A large number of offices are going in for the color page printers. This is however not recommended if you do not need to print fliers or brochures in large volumes consistently.
There are a few other advantages that come with a laser printer, for example:
1. Using a duplex unit: This would enable the user to print back to back. This is particularly useful for creating brochures and leaflets.
2. Add a paper drawer: This would reduce the number of user interventions and in turn reduces the printer errors
3. Assigning different paper trays for different drafts can be used to print different documents without messing about with the tray each time.
4. An Ethernet or a wireless network card can be added to the printer to attach it to a network. This functionality can be availed in the laser printer.
This is just to outline the benefits of using each kind of a printer. This is aimed at helping the user to weigh the pros and the cons before buying a printer.
Dye-Sublimation Printers
For many years, dye-sublimation printers were specialist devices used in demanding graphic arts and photographic applications. The advent of digital photography led to the entry of this technology into the mainstream, forming the basis of many of the standalone, portable photo printers that surfaced in the second half of the 1990s.
The term "dye" in the name refers to the solid dyes that were used in the process instead of inks or toner. "Sublimation" is the scientific term for a process where solids (in this case, dyes) are converted into their gaseous form without going through an intervening liquid phase.
The printing process employed by true dye-sublimation printers differs from that of inkjets. Instead of spraying tiny jets of ink onto a page as inkjet printers do, dye-sublimation printers apply a dye from a plastic film. A three-pass system (featuring solid dyes in tape form on either a ribbon or a roll) layers cyan, magenta, yellow, and black dyes on top of one another. The print head on a dye-sub printer uses tiny heaters to vapourize the dye, which permeates the glossy surface of the paper.
A clear coat is added to protect the print against ultraviolet light. Although this method is capable of producing excellent results, it is far from economical. Even if a particular image does not need any one of the pigments, that ribbon segment is still consumed. This is the reason it is common for dye-sub printer compatible paper packs to contain a transfer film capable of producing the same number of prints. In addition, dye sublimation inks need a paper that allows the ink to remain on the surface of the paper.
Nowadays, a number of inkjet printers on the market are capable of deploying dye-sublimation techniques. The cartridges in such printers spray the ink, covering the page one strip at a time. The print head heats the inks to form a gas, controlled by a heating element that reaches temperatures of up to 500° C (higher than the average dye sublimation printer). A big difference in the results with dye-sublimation technique is that because the dyes are applied to the paper in gas form, they do not form distinct dots with a hard edge like inkjet printers. Instead, the edges are softer and blend into each other easily. Additionally, the infusion of the gaseous dye into the paper yields a more color-fast picture.
Comparing Dye-Sublimation Printers and Inkjet Printers
Although it is difficult to point out every possible advantage and disadvantage when comparing inkjet and dye-sub printers, the following list mentions the major points that apply to most people printing photos at home.
Advantages of Inkjet Printers over Dye-Sub Printers:
- Prints are very precise with sharp edges
- Latest models offer incredible detail that exceeds most dye-sub printers
- Variety of papers/surfaces available—including matte, luster, glossy.
- Not locked in to one manufacturer's paper
- Some archival inkjets can produce prints that long-lasting
- Most inkjets can print on many different surfaces that are designed to accept ink, including CDs, CD inserts, envelopes, etc.
- Inkjets have a considerably larger colour gamut and usually produce more vivid photos than dye-subs
- Easier to obtain large format inkjets that can print 11x14, 13x20 sizes, or larger
- Inkjet printing is often cheaper than dye-sub printing
Inkjet Printer Disadvantages:
- Often much slower than dye-sub printers
- Most non-archival inkjets produce prints that fade a little (sometimes a lot) faster than dye-sub prints
- Print heads sometimes clog and require cleaning, or even replacement
Advantages of Dye-Sub Printers over Inkjet Printers:
- Very fast
- Relatively maintenance-free
- Smooth with no dot patterns visible, even under magnification
- Produce excellent shadow detail in dark areas where some inkjets may be "blotchy"
- Prints are usually more durable and more waterproof than inkjet prints
- For many viewers, dye-sub printers produce photos that look and feel more like real photographs due to the smoothness of the prints and the absence of visible dot patterns
Dye-Sub Printer Disadvantages:
- Consumer level models often smear high contrast edges (like a black square on a white background) to some degree, making charts, graphs, and line art look a little less "precise"
- Dye-sub prints typically only last as long or slightly longer than a good non-archival inkjet printer and are generally not considered "archival"
- Paper type selection is very limited and while dye-sub printers produce excellent glossy photos, most fall behind or do not even offer the option of matte prints
- Dye-sub printers use an entire page and an entire page worth of ribbon even to print one small wallet size photo
- Pages cannot be normally fed through the printer twice to fill more of the page as they can in inkjets

Colour Printer Review
However the future of the color printer market is purported to be a bright one according to those investing in these companies. The investors are much optimistic, as these printers, using four times the toner cyan, magenta, yellow, and black of a monochrome printer, will produce pictures of a much higher quality. The market, currently a billion dollar industry, will increase manifold.
Adding on to its product range, printing giant Lexmark introduced its c52x series, which included the c524n last June. Earlier there was a huge gap in its color line up-there was simply the low- end c510 with a capacity of printing about 8 color and 30 monochrome pictures in a single minute which wasn't all that fast. There also existed, side-by-side, the high-end c762 which, though having a higher speed, was much more expensive, thereby difficult to afford for the smaller offices and home users. As there was no other product catering to the demands of the users the competitors of Lexmark had an edge over it.
The introduction of Lexmark's c524n however changed things
They introduced this product with a very low price range, thereby making it affordable. Offering a dpi resolution of 1200*1200, this network ready color laser printer has an outstanding colour output and can print up to twenty pages per minute. The very first page may be printed in as little as 13seconds. The model has a monthly maximum duty cycle of 65000 pages, which is quite impressive. The new c524 also reduces the time taken by print jobs considerably as it has a 437.5MHz processor and 128Mbytes of memory.
The memory can be expanded up to 576, which decreases the waiting time taken for print jobs. Moreover, color care technology and Lexmark coverage estimator help in managing the cost involved in using color toner. The model, weighing 57 pounds, is 17.3 inches wide, 19 inches high and 20.2 deep. With the model also comes a CD consisting of the user guide and the printer software, a power cable, a paper exit extension tray, set up sheet and toner cartridges for cyan, yellow, magenta and black. The product has a one-year warranty period for on site repair.
It goes without saying that that outsourcing of IT and consumer electronic products lower manufacturing costs of the product, which helps lower the prices of the produced good. The question is how low must the producers keep their profit margins in order to stay in the race in today's color printing market?
The current analysis lab examined the c524n at a product volume of 1,20,000 units under the assumption that the model was produced in china. An analysis was made of the procurement costs of commodity components, manufacturing costs of fabricated components and location labor rates. The production cost was estimated to be around $525/unit. The cost distribution showed the cost of the printer mechanism and its assembly to be about $82. The electronics and assembly account for $92. Other costs included laser power supply, consumables assembly, fuser assembly, paper assembly, control panel assembly electronics assembly, final arrangements, etc.
The product, being suitably priced, was a great success, perfectly fitted to meet the needs of the buyers and the manufacturers and compete with its competitors in the lucrative color printer market. Lexmark claimed the print quality was Photorealistic. On account of its chemically processed, spherical toner delivering a 1200*1200 dpi resolution and also because the new print head four lasers in one unit with a mirror. The machine enabled Lexmark to take on the enterprise market as well as their competitors, especially Hewlett-Packard.
How To Buy A New Printer
For home use, you'll probably want to print out digital photos or graphics, which makes color a must. The traditional differentiation between lasers and ink jets has been office versus home use; however, color offers obvious presentation advantages for business use as well. Fortunately, prices for both categories of printers have come down enough to make it practical to purchase both a laser and an ink jet if you absolutely need both color and high-quality text.
The work you do
There are a number of different printer configurations available today, many of them quite specialized in the applications. There are specialized photo printers, direct disc CD printers, Multifunction printers, desktop ink jets and high-speed lasers.
If you want a printer that is specifically designed for printing photographs, you will most likely look for a color ink-jet system that is a photo printer, allowing very high quality color output and capable of printing all the way to the edge of the page. Recent releases by major brands now include all-in-one Multifunction devices that include scanning and printing capabilities. Many smaller units that are designed purely as a photo-printer to plug directly into your digital camera are also available. Much the same can be said for CD or DVD printing, with specialist printers available for printing directly onto discs, saving label application.
On the other hand if you are a small home-office worker, then your requirements may be more general, in which case you need to make a printer decision based on the types of documents your produce and how many. In general terms, ink-jet printers offer high quality colour outputs at a low hardware cost, but high consumable cost. Lasers offer significantly higher speeds but at a much higher hardware cost. High volume usage however, reduces the cost per page considerably.
Multifunction printers (MFP) are often ideal for home office or student needs because they combine multiple functions into one unit, usually a scanner, printer, copier fax machine, doing a little bit of everything, and saving considerable desk and office space in the bargain. Generally ink-jet style printers, some MFP may trade-off performance for price and convenience ( e.g. lower resolution, slower print speed) than if you were to buy a printer and scanner individually.
You can buy Multifunction printers specially configured for printing photographs, with some machines providing the ability to scan directly from 35mm slides and store digital files and print them, which is ideal for archiving old photo libraries. However, the scanned images may not exhibit the same clarity and brightness of digitally capture photographs, or as the kind of quality that you can obtain from a dedicated scanner. Search 4Inkjets for the specifications you require and compare prices and performance between brands and technologies.
Technical Aspects
One of the specifications that you will be faced with, is that of resolution. Up to a point, a printer's resolution determines aspects of its print quality. Images are made up of tiny dots of ink or toner that is applied to the page, and resolution is the term given to the number of dots per inch-quoted as dpi. This usually represented in a two-dimensional matrix (eg: 600 x 300 dpi). Most printers today support a basic 600 x 600 dpi resolution that produces adequate quality in most instances. Many ink jets, however, especially photo printers and high-end plotters, offer higher resolutions and more dots in the vertical plane than the horizontal.
Resolution ratings are not the whole story however. Many printer manufacturers now incorporate smoothing and enhancing features through software algorithms. This means that some output from printers with a lower dpi looks just as good as that from a higher dpi unit. And, although some printers have very high resolutions, you're not likely to notice any difference in quality with common print jobs once you go above 600 x 600 dpi resolution. What you will notice however, is much higher consumption of inks or toner. It is noteworthy, and perhaps obvious to some, that the higher resolution you are printing at, the higher will be your consumable consumption, and this is the most expensive part of your printer.
Speed is another important consideration. Vary rarely will you find that your printer performs at the 'pages-per-minute' rate (ppm) that is advertised or cited in the specification. There are a number of reasons for this including the size of the file being printed, the amount of ink coverage on the page, the proportion of black to other colors, the weight of the paper stock and possibly even the constancy of the power supply of electricity to your premises. This is not to day that the manufacturers, under laboratory conditions are not able to make the machine perform at spec, just not to rely on the claim as a gospel figure. However you can use the speed ratings to make some judgement of performance differences between brands and models. If speed is an important consideration, then you can short-list printers that claim to perform above a certain rate and the compare other factors. You can do this at 4Inkjets simply by searching for printers that offer a certain ppm speed.
Laser printers use powder toner that is electromagnetically attracted to the page by an image temporarily made on a transfer drum through a laser scanning process, and then fused to the page with a heat-setting system. This toner is supplied in cartridges, usually one for each of a four-color printing system (cyan, magenta, yellow and black). Manufactures give some estimate of how many pages of a given size each toner cartridge will print, based on a predetermined proportion of coverage (say 10%). As with the speed claims, these estimates are rarely accurate, but can be used to make some judgement between makes and models. The higher resolution of image you are printing, the more toner will be used in the process. Ink jet printers use a liquid ink stored in tanks that are sprayed by very fine nozzles onto the page as they are required. Just as you replace the toner cartridges in the laser system, you replace ink tanks when they're depleted in an ink jet printer.
It is important to understand that even thought the printer might be cheap, consumables is where the manufacturers actually make enormous profits, so be sure to consider replacement consumables when doing your cost comparisons. With ink jet printers, some have color cartridges in one unit, others have separate color units. In the long run, separate tanks will most likely work out cheaper, because as one color runs out, you replace only that color. When all colors are housed in the one cartridge unit, you may have a nearly full tank of cyan when the yellow is completely gone, and you have to throw away unused ink. Not only does this waste your money, it can also be environmentally expensive.
Cost
There are two parts to your cost assessment of a printer. The first is the purchase price of the printer itself. This can vary considerably between brands and models, and is usually differentiated through different features being offered. Use 4Inkjets to search for a printer based on a given price range and compare the features. However, possibly more important is the ongoing cost, often measured in cost per page. A typical ink jet printer may cost you 40-50 cents per printed page, depending on how much ink you are using on the page, it may even cost more. By comparison, a color laser may work out to 15-20 cents per page. These costs don't usually include the paper stock, and are based on consumables and maintenance costs. Companies like Xerox often supply large color Laser printers for a cost per page fee.
One cost assessment technique is to estimate how much printing you will do in a given period, load your calculations with a percentage of ink coverage (if you are printing all full gloss and high resolution photographs, for example, you might load the cost per page by a factor of 8-10), factor in the machine cost and make a comparison of what you will spend in a year, including the cost of the printer.
Other things you might consider
How paper travels through a printer can affect your whole printer experience. The closest you can get to a 'straight through' paper path, the more trouble-free your printer will be. If all your printing is only on plain white bond paper, then paper path will possibly not be a major consideration. But if you're printing on photographic stock, thick paper, envelopes, transparent film or other materials, then be sure the print path is compatible with your requirements. How you connect to your computer might also be a consideration, especially if you work with large files where connection speed is a consideration. Most printers today offer relatively high-speed USB interfaces. But you might want to consider wireless connections or networking capabilities.
When choosing a Laser printer, on-board RAM (read only memory) might be a consideration. A printer with a standard 64 Megabytes of RAM will be slow to print a quantity of documents that are larger in size than the printer's memory. If large documents are a consideration, make sure you can upgrade the printer's memory. The printer driver provides the software interface to your printer, offering you on-screen control over copies, page size, orientation, resolution, text smoothing and paper thickness and type. Many drivers now include advanced features and enable you to create your own custom-setting profiles for quick selection. Moreover a good driver provides complete printer management from on-screen, including paper jams and job queue management. Ink-jet drivers often provide graphical indications of remaining ink levels for each color.
Search 4Inkjets
Consider any bundled software offerings when you're choosing a printer, for this can mean a significant bonus in value-added software. Bundled applications might include greeting card, poster, and banner creators, and photo editing programs. With computing becoming a major component of education, software for kids that provide a user-friendly way to create word processing and graphics documents can be a major bonus. Space may be an issue in your office, in which case you should consider the amount of space the printer will need to operate efficiently. This is often more than just its footprint. You need to also consider access to paper trays and airflow around the machine. While basic printer configurations may be fine for your immediate needs, take a look at the options available and their costs for each unit before you buy. You may see future applications. This is easy to do using 4Inkjets where you can simply compare types of technology, prices, vendors and the options each one offers.
LCD Screen and High Definiton Plasma TV in Computer Monitors
Initial vintage monitors were monochrome - one color only not the brilliant color displays that we take for granted today. Some of these monochrome monitors were green or orange iridescent. Others were similar to a black and white television that is grey scale. It is taken for granted now by young computer surfers and gamers that television was always “color”, not so.
Initially TV broadcasts were in “black and white “. Color TV had been developed but the technology but the widespread use did not arise till the early 1970's and even later in some areas. The broadcasts were seen as black and white on those sets and color on color sets.
Color TVs could receive programs that were in the black and white mode as well. Sort of the backwards compatibility of the day.
What then would be the difference between the picture qualities of a television set a monitor has vastly greater resolution than standard TV sets. The TV sets of that time (as opposed to current high end LCD and plasma high definition TVs) were basically 1950's technology - even the newer color TV sets. A monitor's screen display should be stable and of good quality, since the computer user may sit very close to the monitor and spend many hours reading the display. If the images are fuzzy (low resolution) or waver constantly, you would have a throbbing headache and wavering eyes in no time.
Monitors have knobs to adjust for clarity. On vintage monochrome monitors these usually include a brightness knob which adjusts the illumination of the entire screen, and a contrast knob which makes the letters lighter or darker in relation to the background screen newer color monitors will have additional adjustments for color. The question will arise - how did the vintage CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors initially handle the color technology which came later and became the accepted standard.
A typical color monitor screen worked in much the same way as a standard CRT television. The inside of the picture tube is coated with three different phosphors: red, green and blue. Phosphors are special chemical compounds that glow with characteristic colors when bombarded a stream of electrons. The phosphor gets “excited” and thanks to the additive properties of the color wheel the different colored lights resulting get mixed and that all types of combinations of the three primary colors result. The end result is that virtually any color of the rainbow can be produced. And as for the color white the eyes play a useful trick. When all three colors are mixed together in equal quantities, the eye sees this as “white light”.
Finally the sharpness of the CRT color monitor or a TV set's image is determined by three factors: the monitor's bandwidth, its dot pitch, and the accuracy of its convergence. Although the bandwidth and dot pitch are important to determine a good monitor, convergence is the real measurement. Indeed we have come a long way from the initial simple vintage monochrome monitors. What we now take for granted with LCD monitors and indeed our high definition TV sets all originated with simple CRT monochrome monitor technology which was merged with the technology and tricks gleaned from the color TV industry.
The LCD and CRT Monitors
There are several advantages of LCD Monitors over the old CRT Displays. While LCD Monitors are compact and lightweight and consume less power approximately 20W whereas the CRT monitors are bulky and heavy consuming up to 150W. An LCD Monitor produces perfectly sharp images with perfect image geometry whereas in CRT the sharpness is limited and it tends to blur more at high brightness and with the aging of the tubes and suffers from geometric distortions.
LCD monitors have a consistent tonal scale and can display text with excellent contrast whereas the CRT monitors display strong bright areas which can cause other regions of the picture to dim and also has poor text contrast because of limited bandwidth. LCD monitors do not normally flicker whereas a faint flicker can always be observed in a CRT monitor.
There are also some inherent disadvantages of LCD monitors over that of the CRT monitors. The contrast or the color changes with the viewing angle in a LCD monitor whereas in a CRT monitor it is always a consistent image irrespective of viewing angle. LCD monitors may cause motion blur and has a poor black on dark images. Whereas the CRT monitors usually portray motion well and also has good black contrast.
When viewing photos or videos on a LCD monitor it may appear flat and the peak brightness is limited by the back light. A CRT monitor displays movies/video/photos with a sparkle and life to images with very high peak brightness. If LCD Monitor screens are damaged, it may develop stuck pixels whereas no such pixel based problems are present. In LCD the natural interface would be digital e.g. DVI interface and the image can be sub-optimal with analog interface whereas CRT's are naturally suited to analog interface.
On the basis of image-quality LCD monitor is best suited for technical/CAD applications and office uses such as large, detailed text-based but -non-critical color graphics while CRT still has the upper hand for high-end photography or art work and for television displays.
Unlike CRTs that are actively displaying the light through coated phosphors, an LCD actually takes white light and filters it to get the desired colors. To do this for each given pixel there are three sub pixels one for red, green and blue light. When the sub-pixel is off, the filter will block that particular color of light. When the sub-pixel is on, it will open the filter to let a desired amount of light through.
How To Choose The Right PDA
Budget
How much you are willing to spend will also be an important question. The more you spend, the more that your PDA will act like a laptop. That is not to say that if you spend little, that you cannot get much. The $299.95 PalmOne Zire 22 is capable as a replacement to the paper planner, as well as has the ability to play MP3s and carry large reference materials via the SD (secure digital) memory card slot.
As a general rule, spending $100 will get you a basic PDA; up to $200 can get you a PDA with a camera, MP3 player, or included document editing abilities; up to $350 will net you a midrange PDA that can have wireless connectivity (wifi or Bluetooth) along with cameras, MP3 players, and full document editing; over $400 will get you enhanced screens (higher resolutions than lower models), dual wireless capabilities on some models, more included software, and much more memory (up to 128MB internally on some models) than lower priced models.
Purpose
When looking to purchase a PDA, you will want to figure out what you want to do with the PDA. Most people look at PDAs first because they help you to organize your calendar, tasks, and phone numbers. All PDAs do this well, and so other tasks should be looked at such as: carrying large references, mobile email and Internet, gaming, music play, or one that does all those things well. Once you have figured out what you will do with it, you should analyze your budget.
Need it as a mobile phone?
Some people do not like the idea of carrying around a PDA and a mobile phone. They may like the functionality of a PDA, just in the form of a phone; or, the functionality of a phone in the form of a PDA. If you need to access the internet and would find getting email on the go as making things easier, then a smartphone or wireless PDA would work best for you. Many mobile phone companies offer smartphones with a discount if you get a contract with it.
Given that you are ready to go forward with the purchase, your choice of a PDA model will depend on what you need it for—what you want it to do. Following are some other important considerations:
Memory - If you plan to use your PDA for storing large documents and other reference works, then you'll need the corresponding amount of memory. Also check to see if the memory can be expanded. You'll need to consider the other software that you might want to run on your PDA.
Size - All the features do you no good if you don't bother to bring the PDA with you due to its bulky size.
Input Options - If you plan on using the PDA to take notes with, a compact external keyboard is essential. The built in stylus input is designed for small amounts of data only.
Battery Life - Again, dictated by your specific needs.
Finding the best place to purchase your PDA can be done easily with online shopping portals. Amazon.com of course always has offers. One thing to consider for a PDA is a buyers protection plan that is offered by many local retailers. Normally these end up costing more than they are worth, but just one drop of your PDA onto a hard surface can destroy it. If you are buying a high end PDA and will be running around with it daily, a buyers protection plan may be worthwhile.
How To Choose A Good Tuner
For example, if a preamplifier under audition sounds good, you do not need to worry much about its technical performance. Because .if it sounds good, then it is working well.
Tuners, on the other hand, exhibit great variability in their technical performance. It will not only concern the tuner's sound; tonal balance, sound staging, portrayal of timbre, etc., but also basic characteristics such as the ability to pick up weak or distant stations, reject adjacent stations, provide a noise-free audio signal, and stay tuned to a station without drifting.
A tuner's performance in these areas can be accurately characterized by measurement; this makes tuner specifications much more significant than those of other audio components.
There is a direct correlation between a tuner's specifications and its sonic performance. You still have to listen to the tuner before you buy, but you can often separate poor performing models from better units by looking at the specification sheets.
Unlike most audio products, the best high-end tuners have more features, front-panel controls, and displays than the lower-end products. The price range for a good tuner from a mass-market manufacturer is between $400 and $1000. Some of the higher-end models from mass-market companies offer excellent performance.
The differences between mediocre and excellent tuners. Good tuners are characterized by their sensitivity or the ability to pull in weak stations. The greater its sensitivity, the better it can pick up weak or distant stations. This aspect is more important in suburban or rural areas that are far from radio transmitters.
On the other hand, a tuner characteristic of greater importance to the city dweller is adjacent-channel selectivity or the ability to pick up one station without interference from the station next to it on the dial. This specification defines a tuner's ability to reject a strong station two channels away from the desired channel. When stations are packed closely together, as they are in cities, adjacent-channel and alternate-channel selectivity are more important than sensitivity.
Equally important to all listeners is the tuner's signal-to-noise ratio, a measure of the difference in dB between background noise and the maximum signal strength. A tuner with a poor signal-to-noise ratio will overlay the music with an annoying background hiss.
A poor tuner will have trouble receiving weak stations, may lack the ability to select one station when that station is adjacent to another station, have high background noise, and be overloaded by nearby FM transmitters or other radio signal sources. Many tuners have a high-blend circuit that automatically switches the signal to mono when the signal strength falls below a certain level.
The difference between high-blend and the mono/stereo switch just described is that the high-blend circuit puts only the treble into mono, leaving the rest of the spectrum in stereo. This gets rid of most of the noise, but maintains stereo separation through most of the midrange and bass.
Lastly, all good tuners have a 75-ohm coaxial antenna input as well as the more commonly used 300-ohm flat-lead input. The coaxial input should be used for best signal transmission between the antenna and tuner.
High Definition Tuners
Television sets often come with HDTV tuners already built into them, these are called integrated HDTV's. If you are considering buying an external high definition TV tuner for your television, make sure that your TV set is HDTV compatible. A separate tuner may also be needed. This can be either a cable or satellite box for watching high definition programs.
Most people have heard that there is a mandate on televisions to make integrated HDTVs. This is not entirely correct. Certain televisions that are for sale after a certain date will be required to have built in tuners. The tuners required won't be HDTV. The mandate is actually referring to ATSC tuners. It is not even necessary that TV's be able to display HDTV resolutions without either an internal or external tuner. This new mandate will not apply to plasma and front projectors. The mandate will not take effect for some time. Until then there will be no change in television manufacture or tuners.
It is important to ask about features of high definition TV tuners before making a choice. If you are not sure what some of the features are, ask for clarification. Make sure that your television is compatible, HDTV tuners may not work with older televisions. Ask your cable or satellite company weather they support high definition TV, as many people find out later down the road that they cannot receive HDTV programs through cable or satellite.
Ask about what kind of warranties are available and what parts they actually cover before buying. External high definition TV tuners are quite reasonably priced. If you are on a budget, make sure not to buy cheaply made appliances. Always wait for specials or price reductions on reliable brands.
One of the most popular brands available is the Samsung SIR-T451. This one is ideal for high definition programming on any high definition TV compatible television. There are many more HDTV tuners available on the market. By doing a quick search on your favorite search engine, you will be able to find a HDTV tuner that will fit both your budget and your TV's requirements.
What To Do When Your Keyboard Fail
The keyboard is a simple peripheral and when it does go on the blink, you will be much better off purchasing a new one rather than considering repairing it,unless the problem is something simple like a stuck key.
TROUBLESHOOTING BASICS
As we look into problems with the keyboard, remember the check the obvious first and as with all problem solving procedures, don't be tempted to take shortcuts. Follow these procedures to resolve common keyboard problems.
KEYBOARD WILL NOT RESPOND
1st. Restart the computer. This sometimes will resolve a computer that has froze or locked up during the first boot up.
2rd. Look behind the system unit and check to see if the cable is fully inserted into the connector. Check to see if it is in the keyboard connector and not the mouse connector.
Shut the computer off and remove the cable from the system unit.Check to see if any pins or connectors have been bent or broken.
If all pins and connectors are good.Try connecting another keyboard and restart the computer. If the new keyboard works, replace the old keyboard.
CHECK FOR KEYBOARD ERROR IN WINDOWS
If the new keyboard should fail as well, check the resource conflicts if your operating system is Windows 98 or Me.Click on Start,Settings,Control Panel,System, and Device Manager Tab in System Properties.
Windows displays your devices attached to your PC. Click the plus sign and scan the list for the keyboard. If you notice an exclamation point or a red X beside the keyboard, the keyboard has a problem. Now highlight the keyboard, click the remove button, and click OK in the confirmation window. Close the Device Manager and restart the computer. The operating system will reconfigure the keyboard.
WINDOWS DID NOT FIX THE KEYBOARD
You have restarted the computer and the keyboard still does not work. Its now possible you have a faulty keyboard port. This may prove true if the second keyboard failed to work on your computer as well. Though it rarely happens,an error message will appear if the keyboard get hot.Stuck keys are also causes of error messages appearing on your monitor at bootup.
POOR KEYBOARD PERFORMANCE
Keeping the keyboard free from dirt and dust,is essential to good keyboard performance. Liquid spills are common and can be cleaned with a can of compressed air. Your settings in Windows may also be the culprit in poor keyboard performance. To check your keyboard performance, click on Start,Settings, Control Panel, and double click keyboard.
On the Speed Tab,you have the option to control the Repeat Delay,Repeat Rate, and the Cursor Blink rate. The Repeat Delay is the delay between the time you press a key and when it responds. The Repeat Rate controls just how fast the key repeats after it begins repeating. Windows give you the ability to control features of your keyboard which will boost its performance, allowing you to perform your tasks quicker.
While the keyboard is replaced rather than repaired, it is imperative that you learn troubleshooting steps to correct most keyboard problems. You may have problems with the keyboard late at night and you may need to get it working to complete a document you may need for work.Know how to correct problems and help others that may experience keyboard failure.
Keyboard Components
Some of the special features of newer keyboards are that they can be Cordless and is often used with such devices as the cordless Mouse.Special keyboards may be used when the user may want have the freedom of movement. The average user will have very little use for the cordless keyboard or mouse.
The keyboard come in layouts which refer to how to keys are arranged. The Alphanumeric Key layout are the letters, numbers, and symbols. This is the most commonly used type the keyboard layout. The QWERTY Layout is the most popular Alphanumeric layout
The keyboard must have power to operate and it get this power from the motherboard. The operation of led indicators let you know the keyboard is receiving power. Use the right tool, usually a screwdriver to open the case and study the components inside. You will not replace these components but it will boost your understanding of computers when you know every part of every device in your computer.
THE KEYBOARD CASE
While there is nothing much to discuss about the case of the keyboard,we don't want to cut corners. You may have to help someone with their ailing keyboard so you want to be on your toes. With that in mind, let's get hyped up as we begin our keyboard case discussion. Ready, the keyboard case is almost always plastic. I told you this would be exciting. This case holds the keycaps, the internal controller and other chips.
Keyboard LED Indicators will have a set of three LED indicators. They are used to display the current operation of the keyboard. NUM LOCK, CAPS LOCK,and SCROLL LOCK are the three standard led indications found on most keyboards. The most popular keys such as the Enter Key and the Space Bar will get used often. These keys may be the ones that will need to be replaced. The springs or clips underneath may give in to wear and tear over time.
INSIDE THE KEYBOARD
As the CPU is the brains of your computer, the brains of your keyboard is the circuitry inside. These circuits and chips process the operation of every keystroke. The keyboard has its own Microprocessor and ROM or Read Only Memory that the micropressor use to transfer data. Some keyboards are programmable and uses the EEPROM or Electrically Erasable Programmable Memory, which holds data, acting like a very small hard drive.
CABLES AND CONNECTIONS
Wired keyboards will have a cable that connects to the rear of the computer through a serial connector. There are two types of keyboard connectors. The large 5-DIN connector or Deutsche Industrie Norm was used on the first systems up to the mid 1990s. The smaller 6-DIN was made by IBM for the PS/2 and later model computers. Each pin provides a special function to transfer data to the computer.
INSTALLING THE KEYBOARD
Unless you've invested in one of those super duper special featured keyboards which will reqiure the installation of software, you simply connect the keyboard to the rear of your computer. When the system is booted up,the new keyboard will be recognized and you're on your way.Notice the Led indicator lights to verify the keyboard is receiving power.

What colors?
The ‘in' colors this summer are the natural and pale ones. Stick to whites, creams and beiges in your choice of clothing to keep your look fresh and summery. Adding a splash of color here and there, through accessories even, can also help define your chosen outfit and make you stand out from the crowd.

Nintendo Wii's Most Popular Games
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
This is Zelda's first complete outing since The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker won the 2003 Gamespot Game of the Year. Play the game as Link, defend Hyrule and save Princess, Zelda. In this version, you will be fighting the shadow as it slowly corrupts the land of Hyrule. By fighting the bad guys, finding dungeons, acquiring heart containers and getting weapons, you help revive the land.
Gunstar Heroes
First released in 1993, this quirky game is well-loved for its exciting running and shooting action and its non-stop intense gameplay. You'll also like the game's manga-style look and the guns that could be mixed and matched to create your very own custom-designed shooter. Choose from a flamethrower, a homing shot, a machine gun and a laser. But no matter how big your gun gets, your enemies either multiply or get bigger themselves, so you never run out of challenges.
If you enjoyed the arcade games of the past like Street Fighter II and Contra, you'll like this game even better. The levels, thankfully enough, are brief so you're not stuck with long-winding stages of mindless gunplay. Two players can also play simultaneously.
Trauma Center: Second Opinion
If you've played the Trauma Center before, you've probably met Dr. Derek Stiles, who just completed his residency. The story progresses through text dialogue and still images, but it's interesting enough with the incorporation of some serious material, like euthanasia to suicidal patients. As Dr. Derek Stiles, you are gifted with the Healing Touch.
In the world you will inhabit, forces that point to bioterrorism are threatening the world with an epidemic. You will be performing surgery on patients, although it's not as gory as you might think. You get to use a multiple array of surgical tools through the analog stick of the Wii's nunchuk attachment. And it's not just about surgery. You do have to mind your patient's health - if his heart stops, you have to do something. This game isn't easy so you'll be challenged throughout.
Rayman Raving Rabbids
This is one of those rare games where the villains are cuter than the hero, Rayman. The games are silly but entertaining - they'll even let you play whack-the-rabbid inside the bathroom stalls or use the nunchuk and the remote like drum sticks as the bunnies dance on a stage. With about 70 minigames, you can chase away boredom easily, although for some jaded players, this tends to use the same formula in some levels.
A Quick Guide to Online Gaming Forums
Why Online Gaming Forums Are Made
Founding or organizing members behind online gaming forums have certain reasons or goals for creating an online center for people that share their interest, and these reasons can also be seen as benefits of joining online gaming forums.
(Live) Information Exchange - Although there are various websites which you can find online providing the information you seek about a particular online game, you'll find more detailed information in online gaming forums. You can also ask additional questions pertaining to the topic and expect almost instant replies from other members who are online as well.
Reliving the Moment - Say, for instance, you're a booklover. Don't you find it incredibly pleasant to discuss old and new favorites, talking about the scenes that you loved most, the characters that you can't get enough of, plots that still haven't failed in boggling your minds, and endings that you absolutely hated? That's just another thing that you can do in online gaming forums: talk about your favorite online gaming moments - even if it's just something as simple as winning the jackpot at the craps table - and know that the people you're talking to won't feel exasperated. Why would they when they feel exactly the same as you do about online gaming?
New Friends and Companions - An online gaming forum is also the best place you can go to if you wish to meet new friends who share similar interests with you - in this case, that would be online gaming. People you meet in forums is usually an interesting mix with members coming from all parts of the world, and all walks of life.
Other Perks and Privileges - Registering membership in an online gaming forum can gain you access to exclusive features of the forum, and occasionally receive bonus perks and privileges of all sorts that can only enrich your online gaming experience.
If and when you do join an online gaming forum, however, make sure that you carefully read the terms and conditions of membership before signing up. Secondly, always treat other members with courtesy and respect. Have fun at your new virtual chill out place.
How To Play Guitar Fast
The very first thing you are going to need is a metronome. You can buy one from your local music store, steal one from a maiden aunt or download one for free on the internet. If you choose to steal one, then I am afraid you will not make much progress in your quest to play guitar fast because shortcuts just do not work. Most of us look for the quickest and most painless way to do things, and that is why most of us are not playing guitar at the speed of light.
Okay, you have your metronome and an attitude adjustment. You are ready to begin. The next thing you need is something to practice. It can be a solo passage from a song. It can be an exercise, like a series of arpeggios or a picking exercise. You need to choose your material carefully because you will need to know exactly how fast you want to play in terms of the settings on your metronome. You may or may not need to spend time learning your passage from scratch as some familiarity with the piece is necessary to start increasing how fast you play it. By familiarity I mean the muscles in your fingers, hands and arms need to be able to play your piece without hesitation.
So that is the next thing you need. In order to play guitar fast you need to be able to play slowly. The exercise you have chosen to play should not be too easy, but at the same time it should not have too many tricky bits. That is why you are using an exercise or an isolated passage rather than a song or long solo.
Now you are starting to see the way ahead. If you have your practice passage ready, check it with your metronome. Make sure you know what your present speed is. The next thing is to take a metronome setting not too far above your present one and make that your goal.
Let us now talk about something you do not need. Muscular tension. You need to practice playing guitar fast without building a level of tension in the muscles that will work against your goal. In order to escape the possibility of too much tension you need to forget about time frames. You have your goal in the metronome setting. Leave the time open ended. The idea is not to actually PLAY guitar faster at sometime in the future, but to WORK A LITTLE BIT ON PLAYING FAST every day.
So if you choose a passage to practice in order to play fast, and you devote some time every day to practicing, your guitar playing speed will begin to increase. Once you have reached a level of skill on one exercise, choose another one with a couple more challenges. But remember to begin again from the beginning. Ascertain where you are now and decide on a realistic goal for your next step.
Easy Guitar Tabs
Do you want to play your favorite songs chiefly for your own amusement or do you want to aim your repertoire at a potential audience? Let us look at your audience for a minute. The most popular songs in the world are all from years gone by. If you sit a bunch of people aged between ten and fifty down and play songs at them you will find some universal favorites, and they will all be old songs. If you want to please a random audience, your ultimate goal should be to have about one hundred popular songs ranging from the 1940's to the present, but you could probably narrow the range to just include songs going back to the sixties.
So what are the easiest songs to learn from tabs? What can a beginner guitarist learn quickly without too much trouble? Well, I did a little searching on the internet concerning that question, and I found that "Horse With No Name" contains only two chords, and dead simple ones at that! You could be playing that song in a convincing fashion today! "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" makes use of the chords G D C and Am - all easy chords. Building on chords you have acquired learning these songs, you can go onto "House Of The Rising Sun" which uses Am C D F E and E7. Once you have learnt that, it's only natural to go onto another beautiful song, "California Dreamin'" which has the same chords. If you do not like the idea of beginning your guitar playing with these songs, do an internet search in the country music and blues genres. Actually a working knowledge of twelve bar blues is very useful for a guitar player just starting out.
Now for a short list of songs that are both easy to play and have proven to be popular with audiences of all ages. You can find tab arrangements for these songs by typing the titles into a search engine.
"Angie" by The Rolling Stones
"Blowin' In The Wind" by Bob Dylan
"Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison
"A Day In The Life", "Here, There And Everywhere" and "Hey Jude" by The Beatles
"I Walk The Line" by Johnny Cash
"Tears In Heaven" by Eric Clapton
"Gloria" by Van Morrison
"Hotel California" by The Eagles
"Behind Blue Eyes" by The Who
"Scarborough Fair" by any number of performers, and
"White Room" by Cream
Once you have some guitar songs under your belt, you could learn more popular favorites that do not fit into the "Easy Guitar Tabs" category. Wilson Pickett's "Dock Of The Bay" and "American Pie" by Don Mclean come to mind. But do not let the tastes of the masses be your only guide. If, for example, you decide you would like to do a folk guitar arrangement of Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" then you could use tabs for the original electric guitar version as a basis for your new work. With a bunch of easy guitar tabs at your disposal, the only limits to your musical achievements are your imagination and your audience's supply of tomatoes.
The Lure Of The Nylon String Guitar
First let's talk about the types of guitars using nylon strings. Many experts say the flamenco guitar with its dry sound is more typical of what a guitar was like before the emergence of the sonorous and lyrical sound of the classical guitar which evolved in the first half of the twentieth century. The flamenco guitar has always been common in some areas of Spain, and it is simply the musical instrument used by a family or group of friends to play the local folk music. The classical guitar was developed to play the classical style compositions which became popular in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. A descendent of the classical guitar is the basic nylon string acoustic guitar you see in music stores today. It lends itself to the accompaniment of all types of songs and was made popular in the 1960's folk boom by artists like Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan and Peter, Paul And Mary. These artists captured the public's imagination with their songs and planted the sound of the nylon string guitar firmly in the realms of popular music.
The sound of the nylon string guitar is much more peaceful compared to the brighter sound of the steel string acoustic. Another major advantage of the nylon string guitar is that it provides musical accompaniment to songs without distracting attention from your vocals.
By the way - did you know that players of electric guitars or steel string acoustic instruments need to develop callouses on their left hand fingers? Nylon strings are generally a little kinder to your hands. You will find that your nylon string guitar is easy to tune and you can just pick your guitar up and play it at any time of day or night without disturbing anybody in the immediate environment. Also the wider fret board allows you to play chords and single notes without accidentally touching the wrong string.
Nylon string guitars are kinder to finger picking guitarists. Anybody can learn finger style guitar on nylon strings without running too much risk of breaking fingernails, plus you will be pleased at how your first finger picking efforts are rewarded by the more beginner-friendly tone of the nylon acoustic.
Now you have some idea of the attractive aspects of the nylon string acoustic guitar, I do hope you will find some time to devote to this beautiful and, in recent times, neglected instrument.
Now, Discover Your Strengths
For example, the book points out, it does not matter if you are Bill Gates or Tiger Woods. True, these are individuals with tremendous talents that have made them well known in their respective fields, but they also have weaknesses that play into the mix. It would seem our brains are programmed by nature from early childhood, no matter how good our nurture, to start being selective in a few key areas. It is as nature intended it to be. Without being selective, and allowing many of the billions of connections we are born with to lapse into disrepair, we would become dysfunctional with information overload. Therefore, it is understandable that with sufficient practice, while we might be able to learn different tasks well, we will never be great in these areas unless we have a natural innate talent for them.
Unfortunately, most of us do not have a good sense of our talents, let alone the ability to effectively use our strengths to our advantage. Rather, most of us spend our lives becoming all too aware of our weaknesses and spend our time trying to deal with our flaws, while neglecting our innate talents. However, most original and potentially most revealing, to address this problem, "Now, Discover Your Strengths" provides access to a web-based interactive questionnaire, developed by the Gallup Organization, that quickly identifies your top 5 (out of a total of 34) positive "personality themes", such as: Achiever, Deliberative, Harmony, Empathy and so forth that you might naturally posses. The book goes on to elaborate how each of the 34 unique themes can be identified, complete with individual profiles describing how each might act and what each might "sound like." As each sees the world through their own strengths filter, it is easy to have friction between different individuals within the same department or organization, because we all see the world, and how it should look, so differently.
While one may hear what someone else is saying, they may not be able to assimilate it into their own world effectively. This is why partners or advisors are often so effective, as they ad balance to the limits of others. One word of caution however: do not buy this book used if you intend to take the preference test. There is a unique, one-time code that comes with each copy of "Now, Discover Your Strengths", which is absolutely necessary in order to access the website's resources. The book has limited value without the ability to take the online test. However, the test alone is well worth the price of the entire book just by itself. With this resource, you will better understand how to build a "strengths-based organization" by capitalizing on the fact that such traits are already present among those within it.
With an estimated 8 out of 10 people in this country not really in a position to capitalize on their strengths and talents, chances are most of us could benefit from reading this book. As most of us fail to capitalize on our strengths, it is not surprising that most departments in any company, no matter the size of the organization, are not operating at even par performance. The risk doing nothing is costly- not only in lost productivity, but in job satisfaction, employee retention and absenteeism and so on. This groundbreaking, resourceful book is easy to read in short concise chapters. Along with the associated preference test, "Now, Discover Your Strengths", is a positive cost effective solution in resolving problems, and helping each employee achieve his or her full potential. This is must read for managers and office teams who want a win-win solution in improving their own departments, as well as the lives of those who work for them.
Start Your Own Business
The book literally takes you through the entire business process - from determining if you really have what it takes to run a business to how to deal with failure if your business doesn't work out, and everything in between. The best part about the book is that it covers nearly EVERYTHING in some capacity. If you need more information, it does a great job of suggesting further reading and pertinent web sites.
The book is broken down into seven sections, each with several chapters. The first section, 'You Gotta Start Somewhere' covers determining if you can be an entrepreneur, how to come up with an idea for your business, and whether you should launch your business part time or full time. Most people who buy the book will already have answers to these questions, but going through the exercises in the book can still be helpful.
The second section of the book is entitled 'Building Blocks'. It covers how to name your business, choosing a business structure, creating a business plan, and how to hire a lawyer and accountant. I think that this is the most valuable section of the book. These are the things that most entrepreneurs either struggle with or ignore. The "Naming Your Business" chapter in particular helped me a great deal. Naming your business is not nearly as easy as you think - you need to consider all registered trademark names, registered domain names, and names that are being used but not trademarked. One of the worst things that you can do is to pick a name that is already being used by someone and face a legal battle down the road.
The third section covers financing including where and how to get money to run your business. The fourth section, 'Setting the Stage' is absolutely massive and covers numerous important things such as choosing a location for your business, creating a professional image, offering customers credit, hiring your first employee, and business insurance. Needless to say, all of these things are extremely important to every business owner.
The fifth section covers buying company computers, cell phones, and cars. These things probably won't be very difficult for most business owners. The sixth section, however, covers one of the hardest thing every business owner faces - marketing. The section is nearly 100 pages about advertising, marketing, and public relations. It also briefly touches on web-marketing but those looking to seriously profit online will need to look elsewhere because the book is a little thin when it comes to e-commerce.
The final section, entitled 'By the Books' goes over every entrepreneurs favorite things - accounting and taxes. It gives solid advice regarding basic bookkeeping, financial statements, budgeting, and taxes. For most business owners this section and the web resources listed should be more than enough to get them started on keeping their business legal.
I can't overemphasize how important I think it is for every business owner to have this book. It is a mini-encyclopedia (ok, so 800 pages isn't THAT mini) for everything business related. Having this book on your shelf will save you countless hours. I read it from cover to cover when I got it and I constantly refer back to it. I have recommended it to every person I know that has talked with me about starting a business. Each and every one of them bought it, and each and every one of them came back to me raving about it.
For the amount of depth that is covered in the book, Start Your Own Business: The Only Start-Up Book You'll Ever Need by Rieva Lesonsky is an amazingly easy read. Anyone over the age of 16 will be able to comprehend the simple nature of the book. Reading this book won't guarantee your success as an entrepreneur, but it will help reduce the risk of starting a business by providing you with a sound foundation to build upon.
Business Plan Secrets Revealed
His book provides the basic information you need to write a business plan. But its real focus is revealing how to communicate your plan to investors and convince them that your business is their best investment choice.
When I first opened Business Plan Secrets Revealed, my heart sank. You see, I had promised Mike I would read his book completely before writing a review. And Business Plan Secrets Revealed is no ordinary ebook with one sentence paragraphs, large fonts and hefty margins. It's crammed full of information!
But as I began to read, I was pleasantly surprised. Mike's writing style is engaging and practical, and his explanations simplify difficult concepts. Throughout the book, I felt as though a friend was sitting with me on the back porch, matter-of-factly explaining exactly how to do something. It's the kind of simple practicality that you can achieve only when you fully understand a subject.
Mike's clear understanding of business planning concepts results from experience spanning more than 20 years. Mike helps business owners buy, sell and finance their businesses. He has overseen manufacturing and sales locations in more than nine countries. He is a CPA, holds a Masters in Business Administration, and has served as Chief Financial Officer of two publicly held companies.
Business Plan Secrets Revealed starts with tips for collecting and organizing the information you'll need. From the beginning, Mike concentrates on overcoming your biggest single challenge--bridging the investor confidence gap. In the chapter "Show Me the Numbers," Mike provides some of the clearest explanations of business financial statements that I've ever read If concepts like stockholders' equity or statements of cash flow make your eyes glaze over, then your salvation has arrived.
Later chapters of Business Plan Secrets Revealed really deliver on Mike's promise to help you communicate your business plan effectively. There are complete instructions on writing your business plan, including how to get your plan opened and read, and how to avoid nine common writing mistakes. He explains how choosing the right design can make your business plan easier to read. Mike wraps things up by telling you how to prepare for critical face-to-face time with investors, including developing a 60-second, to-the-point, verbal pitch for your business. Tips on finding investors and a resources section complete the book.
I must admit that several times as I was reading, I would ask myself, "Do I really need this much business plan?" This is not a fill-in-the-blanks-and-print-it-out business plan solution. But then I realized--if I'm serious about succeeding, then I do need to know as much as possible about my business up front. Before I've started spending money. Before I put myself on the line out in the market.
By the way, I did make it through the whole book. And I confirmed that Mike delivers what he promises on the title page: he teaches you how to quickly gather evidence, build a case for your business, and write a readable plan that attracts investors and makes your business the most appealing investment choice. Even if you already own other business planning resources, I highly recommend Business Plan Secrets Revealed.
Guerrilla Marketing For Free
We've all heard examples of businesses that spend nothing on marketing and yet never seem to be lacking in customers (Krispy Kreme Doughnuts comes to mind), but how do they do it? On the first page of the book Levinson lets you know that it is possible to grow a business without spending a dollar on marketing, but that it takes a lot of energy and time. Each of the simple tactics the book discusses (there are 100) are deceptively simple and, according to Levinson, have proven track records.
All that you need to get started is a telephone, a computer, a printer, business cards, and access to the internet. After that you will not spend another dollar. Techniques range from the relatively obvious, such as “write a marketing plan” and “have a website”, to not-so-obvious things such as “establish a referral program” and “get involved in your community.”
Many of the tactics involve giving to receive. In addition to doing volunteer work in your community, Levinson suggests joining local networking groups, giving away your product for free to non-profit organizations and schools, and doing free presentations on your area of expertise to local organizations. Levinson's tactics will not just help improve your bottom line, they'll help you become a more altruistic entrepreneur.
If there's one downside to the book, it's that some of the techniques involving computers are outdated. For example, Levinson suggests advertising on free online classified sites. That may have worked years ago, but these days those sites are covered in spam and I doubt that any business would gain anything from listing on them. The book was written in 2003, so most of the techniques are still pretty valuable, but there's just a few that stand out as infeasible in 2006.
When reading Guerrilla Marketing for FREE by Jay Conrad Levinson, I found myself constantly putting it down and jotting down ideas that could help supercharge my business. Levinson truly invokes your creative juices. And the best part is that all of the techniques cost you NOTHING. This is a no-brainer purchase for all entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Insomnia - The Symptoms, Effects, and Treatments
Do you lie awake at night spending more time staring at the ceiling than sleeping? You are not alone! Millions of other people are experiencing the same thing all across the world. They wake up in the middle of the night, can't fall back to sleep and rise before dawn.
Forms Of Insomnia
Insomnia comes in many forms, not just in the form of sleeplessness:
The Symptoms Of Insomnia
Insomnia can have a serious affect on a person’s daily life style. Symptoms of insomnia can include all of the following:
Types Of Insomnia
Causes Of Insomnia
There are many causes for insomnia. Below are some of the most common reasons people suffer from insomnia.
Tips For Getting A Good Night’s Sleep
Following some of the helpful guidelines below can help you get a better night’s sleep:
Set A Schedule
Go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every morning. This will help your body get used to a sleeping pattern. "Sleeping in" on the weekends can cause insomnia because it is interrupting the sleep cycle that your body is used to.
Get Some Exercise
Try to get 20 to 30 minutes of exercise no sooner than 6 hours before bedtime- any exercise just before bed may cause you not to sleep that well.
Avoid Caffeine, Nicotine, and Alcohol
Avoid things that contain any caffeine such as coffee, soda pop, teas, and candy. Smokers usually sleep very lightly at night and will wake up at the slightest noise, sometimes not being able to fall back asleep. The same goes for people that drink alcohol just before going to bed.
Do Something Relaxing Before Going To Bed
Doing something that relaxes you before bed is good such as a warm bath, reading a book, or watching your favorite TV show.
Do Not Over Sleep
Be sure to wake up and get out of bed at your normal time frame. Sleeping more hours than you are used to will throw off your sleep cycle and cause sleeping problems. It may cause you to not be tired at night and then go to bed later, thus resulting in sleeping in even later the next morning.
Control Your Room Temperature
Extreme cold or warmth can cause you to sleep poorly. Be sure to maintain a comfortable room temperature that won't aggravate you during the night. If you have a waterbed be sure to set the water temperature at a comfortable temperature as well.
When It Is Time To See A Doctor
If your sleeping problem persists for more than one month then it may be time to visit your family doctor. Your doctor will be able to give you advice for your particular needs and can prescribe stronger sleeping aides that are not available over the counter.

Fast Weight Loss Tips
More Americans than ever are losing their battles with weight loss as the number of obese men and women in America has doubled in the past 30 years. Nearly 60% of Americans are overweight or obese today. Listening to all the weight loss methods and messages out there can confuse you and make you forget about the very important basics to keeping your weight down. If you are one of the many struggling to keep your stomach from overlapping your belt, this information might well be exactly what you’re looking for.
Causes For Weight Gain
It is very easy in this day and age to fall into a lot of habits that can contribute to that dreaded weight gain. Below are a few of the many reasons why so many Americans are becoming overweight:
Before heading out to the grocery store and loading up on low-fat, low-carb convenience foods, be sure to read the labels. Many low-fat, low-carb foods have more calories than the “normal” food.
Weight Gain Prevention
Physical activity is a big factor too. Approximately one third of Americans do not get enough physical exercise. Instead, we spend most of our time sitting at our computers, watching TV, driving instead of walking, taking the elevator instead of the stairs, or taking any other kind of short cut that allow us to work less. If you smoke then quit. Smokers aren't more vulnerable, but when they catch a cold or flu virus the symptoms are much worse than they are non-smokers. Buy Toshiba Laptop
Toshiba laptops have a well-deserved reputation for being some of the best laptops in the world. These are some of the reasons why they are so good:
They are rugged
Toshiba laptops are very sturdily built. If you drop one, it won’t usually break, nor will they break through normal wear and tear like cheap Dells can – Toshiba laptops don’t suffer cracked cases and have keys fall off the keyboard, and if they ever did then Toshiba would fix it very quickly. This high build quality is important to people who will have their laptop for a long time, as well as people who travel around a lot with their laptops and so need to take them as luggage on planes.
Very light
Secondly, Toshiba laptops are very light. Again, this is important to travellers, but it is also important to people who are just using their laptop normally, carrying it from home to their office or simply perching it on their lap at home. Heavy laptops can be a real pain, making it feel like an effort to pick up the computer and quickly check or alter something, while light ones are far more practical.
Multimedia functions
Toshiba laptops are loaded with excellent multimedia features and give value for money and are within the reach of a common man. Toshiba Laptop gives a complete solution for the customers. Also, The Toshiba laptops have a wonderful technology built in for the WiFi connections. The product also has an Ethernet port and modem which provides a wide variety of options for connections to home network and the internet.
However, as with other Japanese-made laptops, this extra sturdiness and ultra-light weight comes with a price. Toshiba laptops can be up to 50% more expensive than the cheapest models on the market with the same processor, RAM and so on, simply due to the cost of the better build quality.
Computing tends to be a race to the bottom, with the cheapest computers gaining the largest market share, which leaves Toshiba courting the more computer-savvy buyers who really need a high-quality laptop for their work. If you do rely on your laptop for anything, though, you would do well to see the extra cost as an investment and consider getting a Toshiba, or a similar high-quality laptop.
Notebook Battery Life - How You Can Prolong It
Conditioning of the battery
The first thing to consider would be the conditioning of the battery. More namely your charging habits. The worst thing you can do for your notebook battery is always keep it on the charger or charge it while it’s only half full. This will diminish the life of the battery giving you less hours of operating time. The ideal way to charge your notebook battery would be to use it until it is completely dead and then charge it fully.
Usage habits
The second issue to consider would be your usage habits. Using multimedia such as movies and music will kill your battery a lot quicker. Especially doing operations that are CPU intensive. Playing games will diminish your power supply a lot quicker than say, browsing the internet.
Settings
There are also different settings that can help preserve your battery life. Windows has different functions for notebooks. For instance you can set your power usage depending on what you are doing. You can set your notebook to act like a desktop if you are near a power supply to get the full performance out of your system. On the other hand you can also set it to use power as efficiently as possible if you are on the move. These setting change things such as the amount of power the CPU uses, the brightness of the screen and so forth.
In the end it’s up-to the individual user. Some notebooks come with the option of a second battery which can double the power your notebook has at your disposal but this is often costly. Also there are more advanced batteries that can be used but again they will cost you extra.
Data Recovery From Notebook Hard Drive
Our society is always on the move; so it's no surprise that mobile computers are the tools of choice for today's movers and shakers.
Numerous PC sales reports have revealed that more and more people are using laptops or notebook computers each year. A number of reasons contribute to this growing trend. The technology behind and within notebook computers is advancing at a remarkable pace, and improvements are realized with each new model that hits the market. The notebook industry continues to grow, but as with every type of technology, errors and breakdowns can occur.
If your notebook experiences trouble with booting, if you hear noises originating from your hard drive, or if your drive is completely inaccessible, you likely need a notebook hard drive recovery.
When you perform a notebook hard drive recovery, you will be restoring failed hard drives and retrieving lost data from the drives. Although it may seem simple, a notebook hard drive recovery is not an easy task to perform. It is a more complicated process than the hard drive data recoveries on desktop PCs.
The main problem with notebook hard drive recovery actually lies in the fact that notebook computers are sealed, and specialized electronics must be employed due to their lightweight nature. In order for a notebook hard drive recovery to be successful, the internal components must be free of dust. This also allows the heat to properly dissipate, and allows the components to operate at their maximum efficiency levels.
It is important that only an authorized vendor or the original manufacturer open your notebook computer to investigate. Since the units are highly susceptible to dust and moisture, any hard drive recoveries must only be performed in a clean, authorized facility.
In order to save yourself a lot of trouble, you should make it a habit to backup the data stored in your notebook at least once a week. This is the single most highly recommended notebook hard drive recovery tip. Just be sure that backing up your data is only done on the network or, if necessary, on portable media. If a network is unavailable, you can use portable media for storage to ensure that the backup works one hundred percent of the time. Without this backup, you will need a professional to provide your notebook hard drive recovery.
In the worst-case scenario, you've forgotten to provide data backups, and you need a professional notebook hard drive recover. Rest assured, there are many experts available to recover lost files and repair your drives. Most of the notebook hard drive recovery companies specialize in recovering files, whether they were deleted through formatting or by accident, from mechanical drive failures or due to outside forces like water or fire damage. If you choose to have your notebook hard drive recovery performed by a professional, you can expect a success rate of over 98 percent. The services of most professional companies are warranty compliant, but you should verify this before agreeing to the service.
If lost data has slowed you down or brought your productivity to a grinding halt, call a professional for notebook hard drive recovery. You, and your notebook, will quickly be on the move again.
Data recovery from notebook hard drive has a great cost. Hence, the key of data security is BACKUP, no other shortcuts.
Used Laptop Computers - How To Get The Best One
Laptops have become a necessity these days. Used laptops are seen as a viable option to own a laptop at a very affordable price. These are the laptops that have been used by a person for sometime and sold for some reasons. Even if the laptop is used for a single day, it is called as a used laptop.
The reasons for purchasing used laptops are many. The main reason is that, it is available at a cheaper rate than the retail price of any new laptop. The availability of used laptops has increased owing to the recycling legislation that makes discarding of old PCs very expensive. Also used monitors are used for photo editing as the CRT monitors provides ultimate color purity than the LCD monitors for editing colors.
These are what you need to have in mind in order to get the best used laptop computers:
1. Functioning - When purchasing a used laptop it should both serve functionally and at the same time save money. Doing a little amount of research by comparing and weighing various options from different kinds of sources will help in achieving the aim to buy used laptops at the best possible price. The price of the used laptop should coincide with the features.
The working condition of the used laptop is the most importance. Normally it is not recommended to buy a laptop, which is more than three years old, for the reasons that either the system would have become outdated, or the user may not be able to run the latest applications and soft wares on it.
2. Features - The features on the used laptops are the next important thing to be taken into consideration. The speed of the used laptop needs to be checked as used laptops run at a lower speed than the normal desktops with the same processor. Used laptop with less than 128 MB memory is not at all recommended for buying. The screen size, resolution and definition are other important factors in a laptop.
3. Portability - Portability of used laptops is also taken into consideration. Laptops these days are getting slimmer and lighter. The weight of the backpack and, accessories should be kept in mind along with the weight of the used laptop to see if it is comfortable to carry. It is wise to purchase an extra battery while buying used laptops as the battery life of any laptop can be only for two years time.
4. Wireless Connectivity - While buying used laptops, you should check if it has a wireless connectivity or at least should have an external wireless card, since connectivity to the internet and intranet is very common these days. Select the one with a longer range and greater speed.
5. USB Ports - Check for USB ports as older laptops may not have them. The more the USB ports the more convenient it is. Also the hard drive of the used laptop needs to be more than 20 GB. The higher hard drive space of the used laptop purchased depends on the budget of the buyer. These days, songs and movies are stored in the laptops requiring larger hard disk space. The most important thing is to buy a used laptop from a reputed dealer so that the purchaser can get a warranty on it.
Used laptop computers are typically sold with a warranty package and often include state of the art features and technology.
Cheap Laptop Computers - How To Buy The Right One
There are various sources from which a person can buy cheap laptops. Out of all the sources, Internet is considered to be the best place to purchase laptops. The same laptop model can be sold at different prices in different websites. The purchaser can easily select the one with a lesser price easily. Also it is better to avoid impulse purchase as far as laptops are concerned, since it is impossible for a lay man to comprehend the hi-tech lingo associated with laptop computers like the flat panel TFT, WiFi connectivity, wireless and many more features.
Features to be considered before buying cheap laptops
Processor of the laptop
A processor is very important to run applications and to perform on-screen tasks. The processor should not be less than 1.4 GHz as it may affect the quick performance of the laptop. For day today operation using word processing, e-mail, spread sheets etc the above processor speed is enough. When Pentium processors are bought they assure a longer battery life and at the same time they are quick.
Screen size
Screen size of the cheap laptops should not be less than 12.1 inches. The screen size of laptops is measured diagonally. The larger the screen size, the higher the resolution, making it easy for viewing more information all at once.
Battery life
Laptops should have a good battery life as they are carried with the operator for presentations, or for calculations whenever and wherever they are required. A laptop with a good battery life should be able to perform jobs ranging from 3 to 7 hours of non stop work without any electrical charge required in between. Lithium ion rechargeable batteries are an ideal choice.
Hard drive capacity
The hard drive capacity is very important to store large amount of data on to the laptops. A cheap laptop can be chosen with a hard drive capacity ranging from 20 GB to 40 GB depending on the person’s usage.
Keyboard
The keyboards of laptops are different from those of the desktop computers. The keys on the keypad are relatively smaller and are packed closely with each other. Hence, it is very important to see if it can be handled comfortably before purchasing a cheap laptop.
Touchpad
Touchpad or pointing stick in-built with a laptop can be more very useful than a mouse connected via USB port. Two USB ports are more than enough for a cheap laptop; in case more ports are required the user can use an external USB hub.
Weight
The ideal weight of the laptops should be between 4 – 10 pounds, never go for a more weighing laptop even if it comes for a very cheap amount. In order to reduce the weight of the laptops, external CD drives can be used. For communications a built in Ethernet port is more ideal than the serial ports or infrared ports.
You shouldn’t sacrifice for the quality for a cheap price. Try to buy a laptop that can easily satisfy your all requirements.

Cheap Inkjet Cartridges - How To Buy Them
Since computers—PCs, laptops and notebooks--have now pervaded the entire ambit of our lives, maintaining all its attachments has also become very important. A printer is one of the most useful attachments as it is constantly utilized by the computer users. However, buying cheap inkjet cartridges for your printer can be a daunting task. You really have to know how to choose the best inkjet cartridge so that you are not confused by the various choices.
Some people get stressed when the ink in their printer cartridge show signs of getting over but there is no need to fret over such issues. When you go to the market to buy an ink cartridge you should not get lured by low priced products or by any bargain deals which promise a lot of savings. In all probability such low-priced cartridges would be faulty and would harm your printer. You will spend much more in repair costs than what you would save.
The first step in selecting the best inkjet cartridge is to check the existing cartridge in your printer and then try to buy a cartridge of similar specifications. If you are unable to get the same type of cartridge in the market you should take the help of the following tips:
a. The ink of generic cartridges can be harmful to your printer’s nozzles. So you should avoid using such cartridges.
b. If you need the best quality of printing you should use the ink cartridges made by the same manufacturer as the printer. No doubt, these will be most expensive.
c. The warranties of some printer manufacturers are not valid if ink cartridges made by a different manufacturer are used.
d. It is advisable to check the page yield of the cartridge that you plan to buy.
The precautions needed to increase the life of the cartridge are: the cartridge should never be allowed to dry up fully as this will damage the printer to the extent that it will not be able to print even with a new cartridge, if one cartridge is out the other one should not be run to avoid damage to the jets and the cartridge should be shaken from side to side to utilize the balance amount of ink.
How to buy cheap injet cartridges
Buying online is the best place as it is time saving and less expensive. If you do not have the time to keep running to the store, spending time in buying and then returning back, you can save time by ordering online and the cartridge will be delivered to your home or office.
Moreover, if you buy at a store, the ink cartridge will be much more expensive than if you order online as the online vendors offer substantial discounts. Almost any type of ink cartridge can be bought online and that too at a discount.
If you buy refilled or recycled ink cartridges either from a store or from a website, you might save some money but the damage to your printer will prove costlier to repair. As such you should buy only genuine brands and that, too, from a supplier or website that gives a guarantee.
You might be able to save about sixty percent of the cost of an original ink cartridge if you buy a recycled or refilled cartridge but if you need good quality printing it is best to stick to the same company that made the printer that you are using.
Printer Cartridges - How To Buy Them
Printing has become an absolute necessity for people all over the nation and world these days. Whether a person needs to print an essay for a school project or a business plan to present to their peers, having a reliable method of translating work done on a computer to a sheet of paper is a must. One important part of a printer that often gets overlooked in the process, however, is the printer cartridge.
Containing the ink necessary to write lines and create diagrams on a blank sheet of paper, printer cartridges are something that no printer can be without. It is important, therefore, that anyone who plans on using his or her printer on a continuous basis have a reliable method to replace their printer cartridges when they inevitably dry out of ink.
One of the most common mistakes that is made is to buy a printer cartridge only after the previous one has become useless. The simple truth is that these cartridges are often very expensive and are not always easy to acquire. Because of these attributes, there are several strategies to employ when purchasing printer cartridges for the future.
1. Remember is that printer cartridges come in a great variety and that a person can’t just plug the first one they see at the store into their printer and expect results. You have to buy a printer cartridge that is compatible with your printer, or you will have wasted your time and money. For example, if you own a Canon printer, it would be foolish to buy a Lexmark printer cartridge. If you are not sure about which cartridges fit your printer, jot down the printer brand and model and ask a sales representative to help you out.
2. While printer cartridges are quite expensive, it is best to get backups when they go on sale. If for example, you own a HP printer and see a sale on all HP and Epson printer cartridges during Thanksgiving, you should head down to the store and pick some up. There is no point in waiting until you really need the printer cartridge to buy them and paying double or triple the price. On a similar note, if the sale were for Xerox and Pitney Bowes printer cartridges, don’t buy them just because they are discounted. If the printer cartridges are not compatible with your printer, they are basically worthless. But overall, being a smart consumer and thinking ahead will do nothing but benefit you in terms of saving time and money.
3. There are many different printer cartridges, from Xerox to Pitney Bowes, and many different printers, from Canon brands to Lexmark, which they can be used with. Knowing which printer cartridge to buy and taking advantage of sales can go a long way in ensuring that your printer will be working with high quality whenever it is needed!
Without doubt, printer cartridges are important to maintaining a good printer and producing quality printed work. Knowing all of the precautions will enable you to derive the greatest value for your money.
Discount Ink Catridges - What To Know About Them
Compatible cartridges are new ink cartridges which are manufactured by a third party and not the original printer manufacturer. These cartridges are made using the third parties own design and manufacturing process and sold as compatible products to the original manufacturer’s products. Compatible cartridges are generally from original equipment manufactures (OEM) who make the same cartridges for the big brands and adhere to the same quality standards and specifications.
On the other hand, re-manufactured cartridges are name brand cartridges which have been through one cycle of service. They are usually disassembled, cleaned, repaired and refilled before releasing to the market again. Consumers who buy re-manufactured cartridges are not only concerned about the price, but their benefit to the environment as well.
They are name brand cartridges which have gone through one cycle of use, but refilled and sometimes installed with new components. Re-manufactured cartridges are a bit more expensive than compatible cartridges but still offer a big savings compared to OEM cartridges. In addition, they are very popular among environmentally concerned consumers. Compatible cartridges are generally 50-75% cheaper.
It is a well known fact that printer manufacturers cut price in printers but maintain a very high profit margin from cartridge sales. Instead of lowering the price of OEM cartridges to make them more competitive, they use different tactics to ban the use of compatible and re-manufactured cartridges from third-party manufacturers. For examples, printer manufacturers may install software in your computer that warns you of the use of compatible cartridges as if they could damage your printers. Some manufacturers incorporate smart chips into their cartridges so that consumers cannot refill or recycle their cartridges. Others have sued the third-party manufacturers of printer cartridges or smart chips claiming that they have violated patent technology.
Discount ink cartridges should always be compared when you are buying them. For example, some manufacturers produce compatible cartridges without the smart chips. These cartridges are usually cheaper than 100% compatible cartridges with new replacement chips. However, compatible cartridge without new replacement chip may have problem communicating with the computer as the latter would think that the cartridge is always low in ink. It is also wise to shop only with vendors who can provide a good refund policy and extended warranty.
Printer Ink Cartridges - How To Buy Them
Inkjet printers are most likely the most common and the most cost-efficient printers. Inkjet printers ensure high resolution photo prints offering high quality photographs. However, Inkjet printers are comparatively much slower than laser printers.
How to buy a printer ink cartridge
1. Black ink cartridges are more affordable than color toner. When considering which to purchase, take a moment to think about how you will be using your printer. Will your printouts require color or will they work just as well in black & white? If the answer is ‘yes,’ you will save a considerable amount of money in purchasing the black ink cartridges.
2. If you are cost conscious and also have a great concern for the environment, purchasing recycled ink cartridges may be your best bet. Not only are these more affordable, but they are also better for the environment as are other recycled products. One of the best places for purchasing quality recycled ink cartridges is Viking Office Products and Staples.
3. When you purchase any type of ink cartridge, make sure that it is compatible with your printer. Ink cartridges are designed to be used with a specific model and manufacturer of printers, which should be clearly explained on the outside packaging. If you have trouble remembering the model number on your printer, simply write it down on a piece of paper and take it to the store with you. This will be the single most important information to have on hand when selecting ink cartridges for printers because without the right printer model number, you are not likely to get the right product.
Majority of ink cartridges for printers carry a manufacturer’s warranty guaranteeing your satisfaction. The only way to receive coverage as promised is to retain the original purchase receipt, ink cartridge packaging and warranty information. If your new ink cartridge should fail to work as promised, most manufacturer’s will either replace the cartridge at no cost to you or refund the original purchase price in it’s entirety.
Baby Shower Cake Ideas
Planning and preparing for a baby shower can be a big chore. There are many, many things that need to be done leading up to the big day.
For the party, you will think about what decorations to use on the place, what will be the program, what games to have, what baby shower favors to give, and, what to serve.
During the baby shower party, the table centerpiece is most likely to be a baby shower cake. The baby shower cake cannot be similar to the cake that can just be bought from the local bakeshop.
It is better if you or one of the guests baked the baby shower cake. Doing so will also assure you that the cake that will be served as a table centerpiece is in accordance with the theme that you have conceptualized.
Ordering the cake before-hand will also be fine as long as you give enough time for the cake to be prepared and that you have discussed with the person who will prepare the cake the concept of the baby shower party and how you would like the cake to look.
However, if you have some baking skills, or if you can follow instructions from cookbooks well, it is advantageous to prepare the cake yourself. You can use your creativity for the design and you can always ask for help from friends. Needless to mention, it is also less costly.
To prepare the baby shower cake, check online for tried and tested recipes and designs. You can also choose the flavor of the baby shower cake. In addition, if you have scheduled the baby shower after the baby was born, you can also ask for the baby’s picture and have professional cake decorators create and edible cake design using the baby’s picture.

To prepare a diaper cake, all you need to do is carefully stack rolled diapers into several levels. Three levels may be ideal. You may use laces and ribbons to keep the diapers in place. However, make sure that you did not tie the diapers too tightly together to prevent them from being deformed. Deformed diapers will be useless and will just end up in the garbage bin.
The diaper cake can also be placed as a table centerpiece. If you still prefer to have a real cake for the baby shower, you can bake or order a simple cake from the bakeshop.
After preparing the table centerpiece, you need to combine it with good baby shower food. Most of the time, snacks, tea, desserts and punches are served. You can also have some barbecues and grilled foods, in case you have invited some male guests. The dads can bond and have some conversation while attending to the grills. This way, everyone can participate in welcoming the new member of the family.

How To Plan A Baby Shower
This can be done a month or two before the arrival of the baby or right after the baby is born.
Invitations should symbolize the birth of the future baby. One can get an invitation that has been made by a card company but for it to be special, it is best to choose the design then have it custom made.
Just like any other invitation, it should have the name of the person to be invited, when and where the event will take place, the contact number of the one hosting the event, the gender of the baby and the theme of the party.
The invitations should be given out a month to a month and half prior to the event. This will give people time to make plans for that day and pick the right gift.
Baby shower food items are often prepared as part of the theme. Since the party has to have a theme, there are many to choose from and it all depends on the gender of the baby. The punch bowl used for the cocktail can also have one that has a centerpiece. The most important thing for this kind of theme is the name of the baby which can be highlighted using an inner tube or any other object that will suit the occasion.
On the other hand, if it is a girl, an example of a good theme is a cookie. The theme is based on the poem that tells how little girls are made which usually come from sugar and spice and everything nice. It is like have a tea party with lot of cookies around as well as cooking recipes and jars with various ingredients like chocolate chip and peanuts. The name of the girl can be highlighted in the form of a giant cookie. Another idea is to prepare desserts.

Another way to have fun is to let the guests play a Girl or Boy Quiz. The questions are designed to determine the sex of the baby.
There are other ideas and themes to make the shower a memorable occasion. It just takes some planning and little imagination to make this baby shower stand out over others that people have gone to. The host can do alone, plan it with other friends or get a professional to help out.
Baby Crib Sets - Safety Measures You Should Adopt
You have just learned that you are expecting a baby. Even if you have other children, you must take a look at cribs. Is the crib you already have an antique? You should look carefully at your second hand crib whether it is an antique or not.
When you are selecting from among baby crib sets there are a few things to remember - virtually all materials utilized in baby products are non-allergenic. You need to select a baby crib that is strong and durable. Cribs could be standard ones, or ones which look cradles, having a rocking motion to put baby to sleep comfortably.
The safety of your new baby is very necessary. The screws and other fasteners such as bolts must be in place and not loose. It is of the utmost importance that this is tested before you place your baby in the crib.
Take something that is almost equal to your 4-month-old baby's weight. In order to be certain that it will hold its position bounce it off the mattress. If it does not your baby could be hurt seriously or worse. When you set up your nursery, seriously consider where you will place your crib.
If you have to place the crib near a window with Venetian blinds, you can either shorten the cords or anchor them to prevent your baby from reaching and getting hold of them. Avoid, if possible placing the crib near the window. As your baby grows into a toddler and begins to climb out of the crib, s/he could become seriously injured in a fall.
Blankets are not necessarily a good idea to use with your baby. Avoid anything that could put your baby at risk and the most advisable way to put your baby to bed is in a blanket sleeper.
Make sure to tuck the blanket tightly around and under the foot of the mattress with you baby's feet touching the foot board if you must have a blanket on your baby. You also want to help prevent your baby from sliding under the blanket and suffocating by not putting the blanket any higher than his chest.
There is a risk of your baby slipping between the mattress and the bumper pads causing suffocation, if bumper pads, which are a great concept, are not secured properly. Bumper pads if used should be fastened in each of the four corners and evenly spaced on each of the two sides. There should be sixteen ties in all, eight for the top and eight for the bottom.
Although mobiles are nice additions you need to take a precaution to prevent your baby from getting entangled in it. It must be removed when your baby starts sitting up by himself. You must also check to see if there are small parts that are removable that your baby could choke on.
No matter if your crib is second-hand or one you had for a previous child, the mattress must by checked carefully. The mattress covering should be checked for any holes or cracks. Also, the mattress must fit in the crib properly. Your baby could slip between the mattress and side or end bars and suffocate if you are not careful. The mattress should be snug in the crib. The sheets you use in your baby crib should fit properly and not slip and slide.
There are sheet hooks available that attach to the sheet under the mattress and keep it in place. Placing the mattress in the proper position is extremely important to your baby's safety. When the baby comes home most parents put the mattress in the highest position because it is easier to reach the baby and change him.
Lower the mattress according to the growth and activity of your baby. If your baby can come to a standing position in the crib the mattress should be put in the lowest position and to add to his safety you should measure the distance between the mattress and the top of the sidebar.
There should be no more than 26 inches from the top of the side bar to the mattress when it is in the lowest position. Moving your child to a regular bed might be a good idea if your child is climbing out of the crib or his head is above the side bar.
There are convertible cribs that become beds and grow with your child. Inspect your child's crib to be sure there is nothing that will put your baby at risk. The ornate designs carved into the end boards of cribs are beautiful but could pose a hazard to your child. Have you seen them?
Your child could be injured if his head, arm, or leg get caught in them and possibly sustain an injury. A simpler design may increase your child's safety. Slats should be no more than 2 and 3/8th inches apart in order to keep your baby from getting his head caught between the slats.
Your sweetheart is going to spend a considerable amount of time in his or her bed. Hence, choosing baby crib mattress requires a lot attention and concern.
Baby Furniture Cribs - How To Get The Right One
Before you go looking at baby cribs you should determine your budget. A good idea is to have a price range to work with. This will allow for more choices in the long run.
The main concern you should have whether you are buying a new crib or a used one. The crib must meet government standards. When you put the crib together be sure to so following the manufacturer’s directions exactly to ensure the greatest amount of safety for your child. It should also be used properly.
Safety concerns include the mattress. The mattress must be firm and tight fitting and there should be no missing or broken hardware. There should be no missing or loose slats. The slats should not be any more than 2 3/8 inches apart - about the width of a soda can. There should be no cutouts in the foot or headboards. If there are corner posts they should be no more than a sixteenth of an inch above the foot or head bar.
Drop sides on a crib is very convenient and is probably the most used feature on any crib. Fixed sides do not have the drop down feature and is great for tall people or those who will only be occasionally using the crib.
Most parents opt for a single drop down sided crib that allows them to easily lift baby out of the crib and to place him in the crib. This is especially convenient if your crib is placed against the wall. Double drop down sided cribs are a popular option among those parents who have room to place the crib so it’s not against the wall.
There are several ways in which drop sides can be lowered. There is the knee push lever and all you have to do is lean your knee against the crib side and it will drop. This is convenient if you have your baby in your arms.
The knee push sides may be the most common type available. Another common type is the foot bar. You balance on one foot and push the bar down with the other to lower the side. There is the double trigger drop mechanism. There are levers on both ends of the crib and you need both hands free to use them. You squeeze the triggers and then the side will drop. The problem with this type is that if you have the baby in your arms it will be next to impossible to operate.
The wheels on a crib are a great asset because it makes the crib easier to move to clean under or retrieve dropped toys as well as changing bedding. Make sure the casters are strong and turn easily. If you don’t think you will need them you can put them aside in case you change your mind.
There are adjustable mattress heights available on all cribs with the exception of the cheapest models of cribs. The three position option is available and is the wisest choice. Two height position are acceptable. Single height mattress is not a safe choice because as your child grows the mattress should be lowered to prevent him from climbing out of the crib or toppling out of the crib.
You should look at the mattress supports as well. Some have vinyl straps that could wear out and break others have metal bar supports which is a better option. The best option however is a metal spring system where the entire mattress is supported and is the most durable of the three options.

How To Increase Your Car Performance
These are the ways:
1. Reusable Air Filters.
Landfills are stuffed with items we use once and then throw out. Auto air filters are one such item and through the life of a car you can go through 6-12 of them with no problem. For approximately three times the price, washable and reusable air filters are a great alternative. When you purchase one it likely will be the last air filter your car will ever need. Reusable air filters enable you to gain slight increases in horsepower and acceleration as well as to impact the environment in a positive way.
2. Performance Chips.
All new cars are operated by a computer chip that tells how much torque and horsepower can be displaced. Performance chips or recalibrations of your current chip can produce significant increases in horsepower and torque for your vehicle.
3. Performance Exhaust Systems.
Cat-back or "catalyst-back exhaust systems" are a great way to free up trapped torque and to unleash horsepower. Keeping all the important emissions parts in place, a cat-back system incorporates large width exhaust pipes and low restriction performance mufflers into your car thereby lowering exhaust back pressure. A side benefit is the really awesome sound emitting from the exhaust system.
4. Cold Air Intake.
A cold air intake is an under the hood mod that helps to reduce the temperature of the air entering the car for the sole purpose of increasing the power of the engine. Side benefits include enhancements to the appearance of the engine bay as this part can be attractive and colorful; the sound the unit makes is also appealing.
Costs for each of these performance enhancements can vary greatly. Shopping online with a trusted wholesaler is one of the best ways to find top quality parts at the lowest possible prices. By doing the work yourself, you can save a bundle and enjoy the fruits of your labor in no time.
5. Dynamometer.
The dynamometer is a device used to measure mechanical force, power and torque produced by an engine. There are basically two types of dynamometers - the first one is bolted directly to an engine, and it’s called engine dyno, while the second type of dynamometer can measure power and torque without removing the engine from the frame of the vehicle, and it’s known as a chassis dyno.
Generally, dynamometers are useful in the development and refinement of modern day engine technology. The concept is to use a dyno to measure and compare power transfer at different points on a vehicle, thus allowing the engine or drive train to be altered, in order to get a more efficient power transfer. For example, if an engine dynamo shows that a particular engine achieves 400 N·m (300 lbf·ft) of torque, and a chassis dynamo shows only 350 N·m (260 lbf·ft), it means that in order to recover the power loss, the drive train should be inspected and improved for maximum efficiency.
Increasing your car performance will be at your benefit in the long run. It will save you a lot of dollars in repairs, frequent breakdown and disappointment when you need the car most
The Best Car Polish
Properly clean the car
This is very important as the use of harsh, non-automotive products can actually harm your cars finish and make it wear quicker. Spray the car first and get it wet. Use the water to spray off dirt and other contaminates that will scratch your car if you immediately start using a sponge and water first. Also do not clean your car in the sun on a hot day. Do make sure you use warm water as it works best to loosen contaminates.
After getting your car wet, use an automotive car wash solution and add to water in a bucket. Follow the directions on the bottle. Then wash the car. You will find it easier if you use a long handled wash brush (most auto parts stores have these). Be sure to wash and rinse in sections so the car wash soap doesn’t dry before being washed off. Then using terry cloth towels or chamois, dry the car off. Expert tip: use a squeegee. It is much faster and easier.
Remove stubborn contaminants
There will be dirt, bugs, tar, etc… that will be left after washing. There are many products that are made specifically for removing these items you’re your paint and car. The resounding answer from the experts was Meguiar’s bug and tar cleaner. Remove all the contaminants and follow the directions (some products can remove paint if not used correctly). Expert tip: 3M and other manufacturers make a plastic shield that can be applied over areas of your car’s paint like bumpers and behind the tires to protect from contaminants and rock chips.
Use a cleaner polish
This will remove any left over stubborn contaminates like ground in bug splatter on your painted bumper, acid rain etching, bird drop spots, and minor scratches. Use a circular motion, just like for wax. Follow the directions for that particular cleaner polish (some require a wet or damp applicator pad others don’t). Do the car one section at a time and use a clean section of cloth to buff once dry.
Most cleaner polishes will dry to a whitish haze. Be sure to buff off all the haze and residue from the cleaner polish. When done the car finish will be really smooth. Expert tip: for deeper scratches, contaminants, etc… you can use an orbital buffer or polisher to apply the cleaner polish. Be careful and use low rpm’s (under 2000) anything above this and you risk burning the paint.
Apply several coats of polish or wax
There is a big difference between car wax and car polish. Car wax is usually a blend of carnauba and other waxes which will give a deep, wet look and new car shine. It comes in both a liquid and a paste, and it will not last as long as a car polish. Car wax is also less effective in high temperatures and can actually melt on hot areas like the hood. Car polish is a polymer blend usually with no wax. Car polishes can last one year between coats and is very durable protection for your paint. The experts recommend a car polish with Teflon in it for maximum protection and durability.
The experts love the extra, deeper shine from car wax, but all agreed it was better suited for car shows. Whichever you choose, they are both applied the same way. Apply in a circular motion and let it dry to a haze. Then buff dry with a clean terry cloth or microfiber towel. Expert tip: Don’t use regular towels or diaper cloths as they can trap dirt particles and similar and leave scratch patterns in your finish.
A microfiber cloth works best for removing dried car polish or car wax haze. 2 to 3 coats are recommended for maximum protection and shine. A good rule is to reapply the car polish or car wax at least 2 times per year. Expert tip: Apply car wax, not car polish (as car polish will leave streaks and smudges on glass), to your windows. Do one light coat and completely buff it off. The car wax will work better than the leading brand glass treatment for rain (it will also quite your windshield wipers).
Lack of proper maintenance is one of those things that give a low trade-in value to a car at the dealership. Hence, it will be wise to take proper care of it.
Cheap Hair Products
Balanced diets rich in vitamins and minerals are a must for hair health. In this regard, natural products are receiving increased recognition after years of neglect. Natural hair care products have become popular for both external and internal use. Besides, they have less chance of causing over-treatment and they rarely over-dry or over-condition your hair.
Using the right hair care and beauty products is essential for the look and health of your hair. But, the problem with natural hair care products is that you may find it difficult to choose one that is appropriate for you and your hair. Most of the products available in the market today, bear a “Natural” label, whether genuine or fake making it harder to find a good natural hair care product.
Four types of products make a medley of hair care items. The four basic natural hair care products are: hair cleansing products, hair conditioners, hair remedies and hair nutrition products.
What Are Natural Hair Care Products?
Not all natural hair care products all natural. Products available in salons and over store counters are never 100% natural, because, for better results and preservation issues, they need to contain a certain amount of synthetic ingredients. The synthetic products can also provide better foaming, cleaning and emulsifying than 100% natural products. However, you can prepare some home made hair care products that are absolutely natural.
You might have come across some organic hair growth products and equaled that with natural hair growth products. However, they are different. Organic does not mean natural. You can prepare organic products synthetically and those products are not always safe, gentle and effective.
Some Natural Hair Care Products
1. Nettle Root Extract - It is rich in vitamins A and C, it is used as an inhibitor of 5-alpha reductase.
2. Saw Palmetto Extract - It is an effective anti-androgen and fights benign prostatic disease by lowering levels of DHT. That’s why it is good for the people in androgenetic alopecia.
3. Rosemary and Sage - These are very good natural hair enhancers. Boil together in water rosemary, sage, peach leaf, nettle and burdock and use in the hair. This will strengthen your hair.
4. Jojoba Oil - It keeps your scalp healthy and free from skin diseases. It controls dandruff. Jojoba oil is also a great moisturizer for your hair.
5. Aloe Vera - It balances the pH level of scalp and heals by cleaning the pores. Shampoo made up of aloe vera gel with a small amount of wheat germ oil and coconut milk is a great hair enhancer.
6. Henna - Henna is a popular natural hair conditioner and hair coloring product. It is excellent for the maintenance of healthy hair. It protects hair against breakage and restores hair shine.

Bromelain Enzyme and the natural hair care
Bromelain is one of several compounds known as proteolytic enzymes, all of which aid in the digestion of protein. Bromelain supplements are now included in some of the natural hair care products. The plant enzyme bromelain has yet to get the hair care product recommendations. But there is more to bromelain than hair care.
The natural plant enzyme bromelain obtained from the pineapple is known to provide a number of health benefits as discussed below.
Bromelain Research
By 1891, researchers identified the proteolytic enzyme bromelain, which they found in the fleshy part of the fruit. This enzyme was discovered to break down protein, and as such, is still used to day as a natural meat tenderizer and digestive aid. By 1957, bromelain was widely recognized and research also began into such areas as muscle and tissue inflammation, burn recovery, infection, and even sinus problems.
The most recognized use for bromelain is as a digestive aid. This enzyme is commonly used in cases in which an individual’s own digestive enzymes are deficient, frequently resulting from pancreatic disorders. In such cases, bromelain supplements can relieve gastrointestinal symptoms including bloating, gas, pain and cramps from indigestion and diarrhea.
Studies show that proteolytic enzymes like bromelain may also indirectly relive food allergies thought to occur from a condition called leaky gut, in which whole protein molecules from foods leak into the blood causing an allergic or immune response. Bromelain’s digestive properties are particularly enhanced when used along side other enzymes such as amylase that digests starch and lipase, necessary for fat digestion. Some laboratory studies suggest that bromelain may also be useful for reducing bad intestinal bacteria.
Bromelain is so effective at digesting protein that workers who frequently cut the fruit often lose their fingerprints to the active properties of the enzyme. As well as this fruit’s amazing digestive qualities, it is also an excellent source of vitamins A and vitamin C, a benefit the Spaniards took advantage of on their many extended trips out to sea.
The fibrous nature of pineapple however, is also known to relieve constipation, as well ancient cultures frequently used pineapples to cure jaundice and kill intestinal parasites. Ripe pineapple juice is well known as a remedy to induce menstruation and relieve painful periods. Bromelain’s photolytic properties also make this enzyme a natural blood thinner. The digestive substance in the enzyme breaks down the blood clotting protein called fibrin, which inhibits circulation and prevents tissues from effectively draining.
European studies have consistently shown that bromelain is also an excellent treatment for those recovering from sports injuries and in tissue repair necessary after surgery.
Evidence suggests that some supplemental enzymes in particular can be absorbed directly into the circulatory system in their active form where they then exhibit anti-inflammatory and pain relieving actions.
Bromelain has proven especially effective when applied directly to the skin to remove dead tissue resulting from severe burns that have reached all skin layers. These third-degree burns as they are known, are extremely susceptible to infection and swelling. The digestive properties of the bromelain cleanse the areas and remove the excess dead tissue and as well, its anti-inflammatory properties may help to reduce the pain caused by swelling. Countries such as Japan and Taiwan and in the state of Hawaii where pineapples are abundant, widely recognize bromelain as a remedy to cleanse wounds. Another interesting use for bromelain may be as a cough suppressant and nasal decongestant.
Commercial Bromelain Dosage
Commercial bromelain products for treating number of human and animal disorders are now available in the market.Health professionals suggest that while choosing a commercial a bromelain product, choose the enzyme supplement that uses a variety of other enzymes. It is best to blend enzymes with activity units at various pH levels to assure maximum effectiveness.
According to experts, in most cases, bromelain should only be taken for between 8 and10 days. There are two recognized drug reactions with bromelain. This enzyme is said to enhance antibiotics. One study shows that amoxicillin blood levels are increased when combined with bromelain. Additional studies show that the antibiotic tetracycline is better absorbed when used in conjunction with bromelain, however researchers say that further investigation is still necessary since studies in this area are conflicting.
If you are taking the herbs gingko, ginger, vitamin C or garlic or medications such as aspirin or warfarin, a common blood thinner, bromelain could potentially increase the risk of bleeding. It is therefore best to avoid this enzyme. In any case, if you are taking any type of prescription medication, it is always best to speak with a health professional prior to adding any herbs or supplements since interactions are often common.
There are many nutritional herbal supplements which are good for hair care. You may also find out natural hair care products and secrets and some fast hair growth tips to take care of your hair the natural way.
Black hair care tips
The Basics
At some point in her life, virtually every woman wrestles with the question of natural versus relaxed/permed. There are advantages and disadvantages to each, but whatever the choice, it's crucial to take care of your locks.
Good hair care starts from the inside out. That means eating a balanced diet to give your body all the nutrients it needs in order to grow the healthiest hair possible. It also means drinking plenty of water, to give your hair (and skin) much-needed moisture.
The Comb/Brush
The next critical element of hair care - regardless of your hair's texture - is using the proper comb/brush. The truth is, the vast majority of combs and brushes are made for non-African American hair. The ideal tool for our hair is a combination comb/brush that is designed so that the teeth easily slide under our coiled hair texture. It's like a detangler that works by rolling out the hair instead of pulling it out. In the process, it naturally conditions and relaxes hair, making it soft and easy to style or braid. This kind of comb/brush also keeps our hair healthy and helps prevent breakage.
Next Steps
In addition to having the proper comb/brush, there are several other things you can do to help prevent breakage. First, use heat sparingly, especially if your hair is permed. Second, don't wash your hair too often - every seven to ten days is ideal. When you do wash it, use a leave-in conditioner. In between, rinse your hair once or twice a week (and especially after a workout), and use a conditioner every day. And, don't neglect your monthly deep conditioning treatment.
Embrace Your Texture
The hairstyles you choose will change over the course of your lifetime, but the best hair care advice is to embrace your natural texture and work with it. Hair that is naturally curly will act very differently than hair that is naturally woolly. Similarly, super-kinky hair will respond in a different way to treatments than naturally wavy hair.
When you work with the texture you have, you can still have a variety of style choices available to you. But the key is that you won't be constantly fighting nature; instead, you'll be working with the African American texture you were born with and maximizing its beauty. In the process, you'll have less breakage and healthier hair. The result is that you will feel more beautiful and project that self-confidence to the world. That is the best thing.
Easy Steps For Transferring Patterns
You need to have craft supplies, piece of material, transfer paper, craft tools, a transfer pencil, iron and ironing board.
Guides for pattern transfer
1. Working on a hard surface, you need to trace the entire design with the help of your transfer pencil. You should try to keep the pressure of your stroke even all the way around the design to ensure a good transfer because if it is too light you won’t be able to see the lines of the design when you begin the project. You are about to transfer a reverse image of the one you have just printed. If the design is reversible then nothing matters but if it is not then you need to trace the image with your transfer pencil onto the other side of paper and remember that the side you trace shall face down on the material to be ironed.
2. Next you have to lift the pattern from the material which is ready for the project and could be used again.
3. Now cut a square around your pattern and for this it is better to work with a small piece of paper when you want to transfer the pattern to material with an iron. You have to position the pattern face down on the piece of material you are using for your project and then hold the pattern in place tightly with one hand and iron firmly and consistently over the pattern with your medium heated iron. Next set the iron aside and hold all but one corner of the pattern in place tightly with one hand and you can lift the free corner to check if the design is showing up dark enough. If it is not still dark, iron consistently in your coverage of the pattern till you get satisfactory results.

Free adware download
However, in some cases, one doesn't even have to install anything to get the computer system infected with spyware and adware. Simply browsing and visiting certain sites can launch an attack. These adware and spyware programs can be launched due to vulnerabilities in your Internet browser's security. This way, spyware and adware can automatically infect your system without you having to download anything. This is especially true of earlier versions of Internet Explorer because it is intricately connected to the Windows operating system.
For this reason, it is important to free yourself from security and privacy risks by equipping yourself with adequate spyware and adware protection. Spyware and adware at the very least can cause you annoyance from unwanted pop up advertisements that can erratically appear on your computer monitor. In moderate instances though, your privacy can be greatly compromised since spyware can track your Internet habits. However, severe cases can mean a serious attack on your security against identity theft and fraud.
While you indeed should be wary of free programs, there are some free spyware and adware protection programs that you can use manage your Internet risks properly. There's Ad-Aware SE Personal, Spybot S&D, IE-SPYAD, Spyware Blaster, HiJack This, XP-AntiSpy, and X-Cleaner are some of the more popular free spyware and adware protection programs. Before trying out some other free spyware and adware protection program though, you should make sure of its legitimacy.
There are rogue spyware or malware that are disguised as security software. Before trying these out, you should do your research and ask around for recommendations. Dependable and secure free spyware and adware protection programs however are vital protection needed in every computer. These free spyware and adware programs work in two ways. The first is by providing real time protection by proactively preventing new spyware and adware from infecting your system.
The other type of protection provided by free spyware and adware programs is the detection and eradication of existing spyware and adware that is already installed in your computer. Not all free spyware and adware protection programs are created equal. Some of the free spyware and adware protection programs mentioned above can only do one type or protection and some can do both. It is better to get a free spyware and adware protection program that can do both for better value and risk management.
Likewise, be very careful also of free programs that you download on the Internet. Some free versions of programs contain spyware so be sure to read the agreements before agreeing to install certain products. Also, it should be noted that older versions of Internet Explorer make one's system very vulnerable to spyware attacks because of its close link and integration to the Windows platform.

Brushing and flossing are needed every day, "for real", or else you will eventually lose your teeth, "no kidding" as a result of serious gum disease. It begins when these deep pockets form below the gum line where brushing cannot help. Brushing your teeth also protect it from possible plaque and other dental problems. On top of that, it gives you a fresh breath.
Chronic Bad Breath Home Remedy: Chronic Halitosis is defined as a persistent, foul, fetid odor, emitted from the mouth and nose. Drink at least eight glasses of water per day to keep your mouth moist. If you have allergies, or are on allergy medication, your mouth can easily dry out. Chronic halitosis can be a pain in the butt. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to suffer forever.

Undue hair growth can be caused by the hormonal shifts of puberty, pregnancy or menopause. You can also have unwanted hair growth patterns caused by heredity, medication, hormone replacement therapy, diseases or other reasons. Excessive hairiness (especially facially) is usually an indication of abnormal hormonal variation.
Women of mediterrean descent (Greek, Italian, Spanish), for instance, commonly have far more body hair than Asian women. In rare cases, the abnormal hair growth is a genetic disorder not related to male hormones. Women’s levels of testosterone are at their highest in the late teens and early 20s. After that levels decline until after menopause when they're normally very low. Women who tweeze, shave or wax unwanted facial hair report that there's no more a need for any of those manual systems or that they are greatly reduced.
Women are particularly prone to develop hair where they do not want it during the glandular changes connected with fertility. Most girls can trace the beginnings to the onset of puberty, pregnancy, or menopause. Women with diffuse androgenetic alopecia can use minoxidil and it actually seems to be more effective for women compared to men. The makers of minoxidil recommend women only use the 2% concentration of minoxidil and not 5%. Women from certain ethnic groups tend to have more body hair than others. This does not mean that they have hirsutism.
Treatment of excessive hair growth depends on the cause of this problem. If excessive hair growth is a racial, ethnic, or family trait, no medical treatment may be necessary or prescribed. Treatment depends on the cause. If a tumor or metabolic disorder is found, these disease processes are treated. If you believe that the facial hair growth is not as a result of a family trait or racial causes, then you may take medications.
